Fearlessness

Lauren is back in the blogging world and I am SOOOO stinking excited! She's given me so much advice and love and I've found many of my other favorite blogs through her blog. I love her idea of making f words positive, so how could I resist blogging about fearlessness as well. Fearlessness. Alright, I'm going to be fearless and talk about a subject that I hint at but never really explored on the blog. Anxiety I've had anxiety as long as I can remember. Ok, not as long as I can because I can remember when I was two and there wasn't much to be anxious about then. But, it's always been there hiding and popping up from time to time. Then about last January, it got really bad. I was a mess. I never left my dorm room. I was afraid of everything and the littlest changes would throw me off for hours. I would just sit in the bathroom and cry and cry and cry for no reason. I had a hard time eating because I would always feel like I was going to throw up afterwards an...

Valentines Day- Part 1

This year, we did Valentines day a little differently... Sammy and I spent it apart! And it was so much fun! Our dear friends from New York the Porters were in town, so, the guys had a guys night playing video games and us girls went out to dinner. I was a little nervous for Sammy to have his guys night because, what if he didn't fit in? What if they didn't like him? What if he felt awkward? He quickly got rid of those fears by saying, "Kylee, we're men. It's video games. It's going to be awesome." I guess hanging out with new guys isn't as scary as hanging out with new girls. Or maybe I'm just weird and very suspicious of everyone. That's probably it. Anyways. We girls went to Rock Bottom. It was going to be about an hour wait, so we headed over to Victoria's Secret to shop for some more lingerie. It was so fun going in there finally able to look at the sexy things for myself instead of admiring them from afar when I worked there hehehe ...

My Bridal Shower

On February 8th, the wondrous Kathy Jones and Candace Vejnar threw me a bridal shower and it was SO MUCH FUN! I was a little hesitant going in because I felt not worthy, all these wonderful ladies gathered to celebrate for me? All that hard work for me? But, once I got there and said hi to everyone, it was a blast! I was so thankful that most of my friends were able to make it along with the wonderful woman in the ward. I had so much fun and such a great time, and Sammy and I are so grateful for the help and advice for our future home! We played the purse game, I wasn't entirely sure how to play so I threw my sunglasses on the floor very quickly the first round, it was quite funny. My mom ended up tying for second place with her Mary Poppins purse. The winning item? A tape measurer Then we played the bubble gum game where you put one piece in every time you get a question wrong. I ended up with ten pieces in my mouth. It was the first time Double Bubble didn't lose it...

Catch Up!

So, there goes February! And I've posted about once. So it's time to play catch up. I shall have lots of lovely blog posts for the rest of this week. And they're pretty exciting. Ok, one of them is really exciting the rest are just catch up. For this first post, all the things that don't fit into their own topic. Awesome pen I got in my cereal! It writes really well! A guy in my poetry workshop has the Obi Wan Kenobi one. That made me so excited. I thought I looked nice Sad about the below zero weather. I wore socks under and over my pants.  This is how I roll. She was thirsty Ok, these are the COOLEST things ever. They're Jamberry wraps. You sort of heat them onto your nails. I'm the girl whose nails chip after three hours and these are still on and look great. I have some more coming in the mail and I'm so excited! Oh Jamberry, want to sponsor me????   We don't get to sit down at work. But I came in and found a chair...

Partials- Book Review

The first book I'm reviewing is Partials by Dan Wells. This is the book that was so similar to the novel I'd been working on for awhile that I decided to scrap it for now and move on. But, Dan Wells' version is sooooo much better. I couldn't put this book down and even brought it to church with me to read during the car rides to and from. Those extra twenty minutes of reading really made the difference. So? What's so awesome?  The book starts right off with the very detailed description of a babies death that doesn't even have a name because no babies have survived in the last decade. None. All of them die hours after birth because of a virus released into the air. The virus was released by the Partials, a super human army that we created to win our wars. Our main character is Kira. She's a 16 year old scientist who realizes that no amount of data on human babies is going to save the human race. So, she decides that she's going to kidnap a partia...

Young Adult is Literature Too

Hey! I'm back! I tried taking a break from social media but it just didn't happen. I've done a lot if thinking this last two weeks. Actually, I've thought about this for awhile but the last two weeks have cemented it for me. When people think of the word literature, they think Shakespeare and the classics. Well to be perfectly honest, the classics or what is considered literature just isn't cutting it for me. It's depressing. It's full of topics that cause me more distress rather than feeling better. And, it's just not my favorite.  So, being the English major that I am, I decided I'm going to start a little blog series on here showing how good reading and literature doesn't have to be depressing, disgusting, or adult only. I'm going to be showing the writing and scenes in young adult novels that are just plain awesome!  Pretty much, I'm going to do book reviews and hope people still check out my blog haha!
