re-REjection. not my finest moment

So, Sammy told me that he only liked me as a friend. And I was like, well, alright then, not meant to be. I went on with my party and tried to forget about it. Except, the next morning I remembered that Sammy had one of my most precious possessions, Lucy the Dinosaur. Lucy the dinosaur is a small brontosaurus that I found my very first day of seminary freshman year. My friend and I named it Lucy and would pass her back and forth every week, which then turned into every month, which then turned into once a year. Junior year was my turn with Lucy. Sammy had found her in my backpack and asked if he could keep her. Since Lucy didn't fully belong to me, I told him he could hold onto her for a bit. Well once he said he didn't like me, I decided I wanted my dinosaur back. So, in an attempt to get my dignity back while also showing Sammy that I can play it cool, I texted him Saturday morning, telling him I needed my dinosaur back. Surprisingly, he was awake and texted right back sayi...

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Last year on Halloween I had a cold. This year I woke up incredibly dizzy. But it was still a good day. Since I was so dizzy there was no way I was going to be able to go to work and look up down up down up down because every time I move my head the world goes wooooo! Not fun. So I called in sick and tried to sleep it off. That helped a little bit. Sweet Sammy spent part of the afternoon with me since I wasn't feeling good. He did the same thing last Halloween when I was sick. He's good to me. I got a whole lot done on my novel, and I found out for my final in narrative I need to write a short story and then analyze it. Short stories aren't really my thing but I have a whole lot of ideas for this one and I'm excited. I have my rough draft almost finished! Hopefully things don't go down hill towards the end. For dinner we decided to get dressed up in our Halloween costumes. I didn't feel like buying a costume, so I was going to be a cat. But ...
So many things going through my mind today. I wish I was out in Utah with my family right now. I miss them a lot and wish that I was able to be there to pay respects to my great grandma. I'm glad that I got to know her, not many people I know get to even meet their great grandparents. It's so weird, I was just talking to her at my uncle's funeral last month and she seemed right as ever. She made me laugh so hard. She was saying how she just doesn't understand the boys with the long hair, or the girls with hair in their eyes. "I made sure to make sure you didn't have hair in your eyes before I said that." Hahaha, thanks grandma. She was a fiesty lady. This Frankenstorm is really freaking me out, and I'm nowhere near the east coast. I'm praying for all of you over there. I'm thankful for prophets who know what's coming and say things to get us prepared. Gordon B. Hinkley warning everyone to get out of debt years before the recession? 72 ...

REjection

It was a Friday night. I was headed to a Halloween party with one of my friends. Sadly, I'm not friends with that girl anymore, but that is a very long different story. Anyways. We went to the Halloween party and it was pretty fun, even though we only knew each other and the girl actually throwing the party. (Side note, the girl throwing the party, Jessica, is ENGAGED now. Crazy!) We played fugitive and I just spent the night riding in my friends truck while she drove around and around. While she was driving, I was thinking to a conversation earlier in the day. It was Sammy's birthday, a day I had memorized. I made sure to tell him happy birthday the second I saw him that day. And then over and over again every other time I saw him, which was quite a lot. During our world history class, we were in the computer lab and there just so happened to be a seat next to Sammy, so naturally, I sat there. That was how I was able to overhear the conversation with him and one of his frien...

A Most Important Day

Today, was my mom's birthday. One of the most important days in my book by far. I was glad I didn't have to work today and was able to see her for a little while. Every minute counts with people you love. I have a pretty great mom, and am glad that I was lucky enough to take on a lot of her traits. Like her love of cereal for instance. There's no way I can possibly write down all the things I admire and love about her, so I'll try to get a few. She's very strong, in so many ways. I only see part of what she goes through, and she keeps going. She's faithful. She's always thinking of creative ways to get her scripture study in, and always has answers for my questions. She's always learning more and trying to be better. She's smart. She knows about so many different things like sewing, 80's bands, photography, and how to rake leaves faster. (You run the lawn mower over them.) She always says thank you, even for the little things like doing t...

Liebster-ing it up!

Funny story. A few days ago I was reading all the blogs I follow like I usually do. And of course I read  Jana's  blog and read about how she had won the Liebster award. I had no idea what it was, so I read her post full of fun facts, and for everyone I kept nodding my head going, I DO THAT TOO! Then today I re-read her blog, and realized that she'd nominated me for the Liebster award as well! It was a very exciting moment. Thank you! So I guess this is how it works, I think, I'm new to this whole thing. I totally just stole this off Jana's blog ;) "The Liebster Blog Award is given to bloggers by bloggers. It is a way to acknowledge each other and say 'you're doing a great job.' It is for blogs with 200 or less followers, so it's also a great way to spread the word about smaller blogs & get them more readers/ followers! When you receive the award, you post 11 random facts about yourself and answer 11 questions from the person who nominated y...

10.22.10 (his version)

I asked Sammy for his version of what happened two years ago, and this is what he said. He makes me laugh. :) So, two years ago on a regular day my junior year of high school, I was kidnapped. Yes, kidnapped. I remember everything very vividly. The night before October 22, 2010 Kylee Wiechman and I were texting each other. She was asking me a series of random questions. What would I do if someone legitly kidnapped me, whether I like ice cream or not, and other questions. And of course being the guy I was, I did not think much of it. I thought she was just asking me silly questions for the heck of it or to get to know be better. The next day, I got out of I think it was physics, and not expecting anything I just walked my way towards the lunchroom. But, in the middle of the hallway as I was walking I suddenly couldn’t see anything. My sight was blacked out by someone pulling a blindfold over my eyes. I still have that same blindfold today. I was startled and was like oh this h...

Two years and one day ago. (her version)

2 years ago and one day, a very important event happened. Me and my two best girlfriends kidnapped Sammy and took him to Coldstone because he hates ice cream. I always laugh thinking about that day, and just remembered in the shower this morning that it happened two years ago, and one day. (I can remember because it was one week before his birthday, another important event in our history.) It went down like this. Kelsey and Noellyn had class with him right before we all had an off hour. I got out of gym early and practically ran over to their classroom, ready to go. When the bell rang, my heart was a racing! Kelsey and Noellyn joined me in the convenient location where we looked like we were just talking, but could watch Sammy exit the class. He took his sweet time getting out that day, I remember that. When he did walk out, he was with his best guy friend. Dang it. The three of us followed closely behind as they talked and walked. Sammy dropped his friend off at class. It was go tim...

Museums are fun when the sun shines too.

Remember Night at the museum? Yeah, well museums are fun during the day too. Sammy and I were in need of a fun date after the past few weeks, so to the museum we went! It was on our summer bucket list but we never really made it. Until this Saturday! It was a great date! Especially since both of us have been learning so much and were able to apply our knowledge at the museum. I had great fun telling Sammy if the skeletons were boys or girls and showing him their versions of the same bones we have. He taught me alllll about Egypt and such. I was quite impressed. It was a great day of being silly. Poop!  One time a friend asked Sammy and I why our relationship works so well. I said it's because we can talk about poop. Hahaha! Seems like he's giving up the Coke. My deer in the headlights look Posing with the lynxes. They're my school's mascot! Kisses for Jacob.  Sammy posed with Hugh Jackman and brother, in wolverine form of course. ...

No Politics at the Table

Guess what! It's political season! You know what that means. Lot's of arguments and facebook posts and inner RAGE! But it also means. . . . Awesome political videos! If you're in need of a laugh, here's my favorites! Enjoy! Mister Romney's Neighborhood VP Songified  I want this on my ipod.  What Jim Lehrer Should Have Done  The end is the best part.  And what would political season be without SNL?  Presidential Debate VP Debate Hope you enjoy these as much as I did!

Oh Boy

About a month ago I wrote  this . Just wanted to give an update, I now know they are all from the same species, and that first impressions are rarely right. It also surprises me how accepting people are. I say hey, I'm not doing this, and that's it. No other questions asked. Isn't going to be used against me at a later time. The one interesting thing is that it usually takes over an hour to eat dinner every night, because the guys all get about three different plates of food, dessert, and then make abstract art with the napkins. Pretty sure all my digesting gets done before I even think about leaving the table at night. Remember back in middle school, when it was funny to pour everything at the table into a drink and look at how disgusting it was? Well that's what happened at dinner tonight. It was a mixture of kool aid, coke, ice cream, beef stroganoff, mushrooms, and a healthy dose of salt and pepper. One of the guys was triple dog dared to drink it, and chickened o...

Bike Riding for the Bike Ridingly Challenged

I would consider my self bike ridingly challenged. Yes, I know how to keep a bike upright. I know how to shift gears and fill the tires up with air. But I wouldn't say I'm a great biker. At least in the sense, that I don't feel comfortable riding my bike on the road. I stick to the sidewalks as much as possible. And that's kind of difficult when riding around a campus that has three schools, not just one. I didn't even bring my bike down until the second week here because I was nervous about getting around all the people walking chaotically. But having my bike here has made everything a much better experience. So, I decided to write a guide to bike riding for the bike ridingly challenged like myself. Please note I have no ideas of biker rules and such, so if I'm breaking some big code, you should let me know! 1. Hipsters wear helmets. 2. Smart people wear helmets. 3. Nowadays, people can't walk ten feet without the soundtrack of their life playing, aka...

I'm that girl sniffing the salad dressings.

Last night, I decided I wanted some salad. But I'm getting a little sick of ranch. So I decided to be bold and use Thousand Island dressing. There was a slight problem though. There were four fancy salad dressing containers that were the same color as thousand island. Naturally I pulled them all out and sniffed each one until I knew which one was thousand island. Yep, I got some strange looks from my fellow college students. Oh well! This is how I entertained myself this morning. Have a happy Saturday!

Looks Better on Me

I know I'm not the only one who does this. Who steals their man's shirts. But, it's not our faults they look better on us anyways! This little number lives with me now :) It's so comfy! It's not my fault it looks better on me. In other news, thanks so much for all the kind words for Sammy. It's only day two, and unfortunately it seems like this journey has a few more hills. It doesn't surprise me. Oh patience, you cursed virtue. I remember once praying for patience to have patience, worst idea ever. Patience has always been my weak spot, and being with Sammy, I've definitely had to learn some patience. Even from the beginning, the agonizing moments waiting for him to text me back what our math homework was. Trying to worm my way into his group of friends. Man. Now I really miss my junior year. That was the best year of school ever. I had a pet fish, met Sammy, built a catapult, did crazy fun things with my girls. Cursed facebook and it's easy...

He Did It.

He did it. The bestby did it. He told his parents that he wants to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I'm so proud of him, so very proud. I'll never know how hard it was for him to do this. I can only imagine. I can't even begin to describe how proud I feel of him. I wish that he didn't have to feel what he's feeling now though. Oh time, please come and work your magic. It's a little sad, because his braveness is a bit overshadowed by confusion, sadness, hurt, and many other emotions. I just wanted to let you all know how brave he is, and what's going on now. I feel a little lost right now, because I don't know how to help. I don't know how to make this any easier on him and it hurts my heart to see how he's feeling right now. The only thing I know to do is to just be here. So that's what I'm doing. If you're reading this, could you possibly take the time to leave Sammy a message in the comments? Let h...
Whenever I'm writing an essay, I usually figure out what I'm writing about by the end of the essay, and have a bunch of huge revelations on the way there. I'm hoping that's what happens right now. I was at work today so unfortunately I was unable to watch conference. I was on the bus when I found out that the ages for missions had been changed. For a second, I couldn't believe it. And then I felt immediately lost. Minutes afterwards is when the questions started. Are you going to go?! It hadn't even sunk in yet. My rebel spirit immediately says no way. No way, no way nuh uh. Never happening. At the beginning of the week, more things in the working plan of the future started falling into place. There was excitement, knowing where I was going. All that confusion over the summer was worth it. Higher goals were being reached for. Now I'm feeling just a little confused. I know what I want. And I know how to get there. But missions are great things as well. I ...

They See You When You're Sleeping

You know that awkward phase, before you go to sleep and you're only half asleep? And you can hear everything? Well, I was taking a nap after my UHL classes today because they always make my head hurt afterwards, when my roommate came in with all our guy friends. They all came into our room and there I was. They were all laughing quietly because I sleep on my stomach so it looks like I can't breathe. Been doing it my whole life people, and I'm still alive :) Anyways. They decided it would be funny to take pictures with me. Not knowing what to do I just continued to lay there. Then I head I'mma get a creeper shot with her. So I waited a few seconds until I knew Austin was next to me and bam! I punched him and he jumped so high and screamed. Yep, I won that round. I'm glad I pretended to wake up because we went to dinner afterwards and it was delicious. Spaghetti, garlic mashed potatoes, and broccoli were meant to be eaten together.  It's been a pretty grea...

Dear Blog

Dear Blog, Sometimes, things happen that have to stay between my diary and me. Or is it a journal? How do you know which is which? I don't write Dear Diary before everything, but I feel like diary is a cuter word than journal. But great things are coming. Maybe you will get the privilege of knowing sometime soon as well. Somethings I can tell you are, I'm weird. Every night before bed, even if I've gone pee five minutes before, I have to go again seconds before I actually get in bed. If I don't I just lay there and feel like a big bag of urine. Haha! Thankfully my roommate doesn't say anything about my weird trait.  Yesterday I cleaned the entire dorm. And for some reason it made me really happy. Future children, please take note, this will probably never happen again.  They had scones today for lunch. I was so happy because I love scones.  I am a homebody. I love being at home. Whether that be my dorm or my home, I like being there. It's har...

Little Bit o Writing Monday

Well, I've got writers block. Which is a bit sad because two weeks ago I wrote twenty pages in 72 hours. It was legit. But I always get a boost after sharing on here! So here ya go!      Walking into school was like walking into a completely new world. One full of bows, exotic smells, and sucked in guts. Add all the incessant questions of whether this looked ok, did you have some extra hair pins, pleas for breath mints and all I wanted was out of here. Ai did as well. Hoping to get a little relief, the two of us turned right around and walked towards the door. That was the moment that our teacher decided to show up.      “Hey girls, where do you think you're going?”      “Outside for a second.” I awkwardly tried to walk around her. Our teacher wasn't having any of that though. She kept moving in the way.      “Now girls, I know what's going on. You two are just a little nervous about today. And that's completely no...
