Crazy Socks & Writer's Block

Aaron has this onesie with a koala mom and baby and it says Mommy and Me on it. But for reals, he is like that all the time. He is happiest when he's just clinging to us while we do things.  This was the day after we did sleep training. When he got up in the morning I was so worried that he'd be mad at me or not as connected because we let him cry. Instead he was giving me kisses.  He loves to give Daddy kisses too.

Aaron has made a friend! There's a baby in our ward who is six weeks older than him, and they live at our apartment complex. She's becoming one of my best friends and we hang out a lot. It's been so funny to watch the two of them interact.   Aaron immediately reached out and wanted to touch her. She's a lot more mobile than he is though so she just kept moving away, then coming back when she was ready.   They enjoyed poking each other in the eyeballs   She got upset that he was in her way   They held hands a lot and it was seriously the cutest thing ever  It was so funny. Since she was so mobile, she kept rolling around and moving and getting upset and then happy. And Aaron just laid there on his back watching the whole thing, then playing with his toes. Aaron is my shopping buddy. When he's getting really bored at home, we go to the store because that's a few hours that I don't have to entertain him and he can look around, and he'll usually fall asleep in his car seat in the cart. When we go shopping, I ask his opinion on everything, and usually he'll give me an answer. He's helped me pick what color markers to get, what color nail polish, and he was even insistent that I get this dress that I wasn't entirely sure about. He held onto the entire time he was in the cart, like he was saying, "Mama, you're getting it." When we go grocery shopping I struggle to fit everything in the cart around his car seat, so I usually give him something to hold. He loves to squish the bread. I love my little shopping buddy.

The car I learned how to drive in is now gone. It got into an accident during a really bad snowstorm, and it was then donated to NPR because it would have been too much work to fix it. I brought Aaron out to check it out before the tow truck picked it up.  I have so many memories of going to taco bell in that car, hanging out with friends, driving with the windows down, blasting music, and just being a teenager. It's funny how many memories objects can hold.  Goodbye Suzie! You were a good car. 

Aaron's doctor wanted me to get him eating solid foods so that he could hopefully start gaining some more weight. It has been pretty fun giving him things to eat. His first food was peas and he hated them.   Then it was carrots   He was more interested in the spoon. He wanted these chocolate bites and held out his hand for some. So we offered him applesauce instead. He took a few bites of that.   After that he started getting super constipated so we took a break from solids for awhile. He just wasn't really getting it, crying and pushing all of the food out. We tried apples again and he didn't hate them as much. Then a week later, it clicked for him. He had some sweet potatoes and chicken at a friend's house, and then stole my yogurt from me. Now he reaches out for all of our food. I let him have a few bites of an all fruit juice popsicle. He absolutely loves prunes and will shake in excitement when you start to move the sp...

I can't wait to teach Aaron how to play the drums one day. :)

I got a nasty cold from my brother in law this winter that had me coughing for over a month. It was hard to take care of Aaron during that time. I didn't want him to catch it from me, but I needed to take care of him. I tried wearing a mask at one point but that didn't really work. Somehow, neither Sammy or Aaron caught that cold even though I was a mess for weeks.  I finally gave in and used a Neil Med bottle that my family has been trying to get me to use for years and let me tell you, it was wonderful.  I had planned an entire church activity around the 5 Love Languages that was supposed to happen when I was sick. That morning I woke up hacking so hard I couldn't even speak so I had to pass it off to some wonderful ladies who presented it without me. I was really proud of these conversation looking hearts that had idea for each love language in the different colors.  Aaron did however have an allergic reaction either to my mom's dog, or something tha...

Aaron is a hard working man. He keeps up with his phone calls.   He plays till he can barely keep his head up.  He does consulting work   He (almost) feeds himself  He keeps up with his mail   He helps dad when he works from home  He turns the pages in his books.  And after all that work, he's exhausted.
