Come here weekend!

Three hours. Just three more hours of calculators and then, weekend! And not just any weekend, but a weekend with all my family! I couldn't be more excited for them all to get here. It's going to be a fun weekend full of celebrations! Celebrating what you may ask? My sister's graduating! A year early! I'm so proud of her. I'm so grateful this moment is here and we get to celebrate it. I'm so proud of her and how strong she's been and wish her the best! Weekend here we come! I seriously can't stare at calculators for any longer. They're all I've been dreaming of lately. They're evil. How many different kinds of graphing calculators does one need?!

I went swimming

I went swimming on Friday and it was the best thing ever. The thought of going swimming makes me super anxious and I've been avoiding it all summer but I finally went. And had one of the most relaxing experiences ever. I'm thankful for a best friend who is patient with me and does scary things with me. And appreciates the fact that I'm always modest, even at the pool. The whole time there when ten year olds in bikinis would walk by he'd say, I'm so glad you're modest. You look so much better.

Saturday is a special day its the day we clean out the stock room

Saturdays are pretty dull at the bookstore. Make that really dull. Which is why I voluntarily spent my Saturday cleaning out the entire stockroom. We had a crap ton of batteries sitting in their batter boxes, so I decided to unbox them all. Here's the thing about batteries. They triple box them for shipping. But the packages are STILL dinged up and broken. So really, save some cardboard Duracell. It'll be alright. Once I started on the batteries I couldn't stop. So I did everything. This is what it looked like behind my counter. Not going to lie, my favorite part was tossing boxes over my shoulder and hearing the satisfying toppling over of all the other boxes.  Now, I got all the contents of those boxes, into these.  I know, amazing concept, batteries can touch each other. I was quite proud of my work. At the end of my shift, here was the beautiful stockroom See those nicely stacked calculators on the bottom shelf? Oh they make me so happy! I'm quite prou...

I love the Pancake Man

I love senor Sammy. Like a lot. And after a pretty yukky last few days, what did he do? He came and visited me at work and brought me homemade pancakes. The man makes pancakes! I'm seriously the luckiest girl in the world. They were freakishly delicious. I'm kind of speechless because he just treats me so well and I'm in love and yeah : )

Humility

This morning I was totally planning on writing a blog post about how awesome I was. Just kidding. But I was going to write one about how I'm finally getting help on overcoming my anxiety and how I've already made a little progress. And how I felt so freaking awesome and thought I already had this in the bag. And then I had a meltdown over ramen noodles. Full fledged gonna puke can't breathe senses going crazy everyone'smadatmeI'mfailing meltdown. Oh humility. It shall be slapped down upon you.

A great boss

I've seen some qualities in my boss this past week that have stopped me in admiration. Yeah, sometimes he may be a bit ocd and most people in the bookstore aren't fond of him, but I have so much respect for him. Almost all of us have had some type of family emergency in the department. He has been more than understanding, has a box of tissues, and just has a knack of what to do. Saturday the iPad alarms kept going off. They were loud, obnoxious, and I couldn't figure out how to turn them off. Everyone was glaring at me in the store. I texted him asking what I should do and instead of just replying, he drove down to the store and crawled under the display for half an hour trying to fix it. We still couldn't figure it out but he was able to disconnect the noise so at least it wasn't scaring everyone half to death. He didn't have to come in, it was his day off, but he did and he didn't leave until he figured something out. When his grandma died at work, h...

Saturday

Instead of staying in and being safe, I went out with my family and Sammy to Loveland to a little bbq/music fest they were having. It was such a cute little town with tons of art. It started raining as soon as we got there, and then rained off and on for the rest of the night. We had great carnival food, laughs, kisses in the rain, and heard some 80's hits. It was a great night, a great time, and we did something. : )

Genetics love + food documentaries =

I've always been fascinated by genetics. It's so freaking cool! In fact, it's a major theme in my story. But I've also loved documentaries. So I watched food inc a bit ago. Which totally blew my mind and now I check the packaging on EVERYTHING to see how much corn is in it. There's a lot my friends. Anyways. That led to this discussion on the 4th of July as my mom was cutting up the watermelon for the ward party. It wasn't really a discussion, more of me saying random thoughts out loud while laying on the floor. How do they make seedless watermelons? Are the genetically modified? Do they breed them to be sterile? Are they like mules and ligers? How do they make more of them if there's no seeds? What if we eventually run out of watermelon because all of it is seedless? I'd be ok with that. Just googled the answer my friends. They're hybrids. They cross a male with 22 chromosomes with a female with 44, making the new watermelon have 33 chromosome...
The rumors are true! When they say your mom will one day become your best friend, she will! If you let her. I'm so glad she's one of my best friends. : ) We share clothes. And chill together. And get excited about frozen burritos and dishes. And talk. And talk. And talk. And everyday I find myself becoming more and more like her, and I'm proud of that. I'm proud that she's my mom and that she's been here all these years, dealing with me and that now were at the friend stage.  But I'll have to wait another twenty years before I can tell her about ALLLL the crazy things I've done  ; )

This one time

This one time, It was the fourth of July, and my family and I went to a church activity and sat by ourselves in the shade of a tiny tree, the way we like it! Played some awesome jeopardy. Had THE best fries in the world. Saw White House Down, and liked it. I didn't eat the whole bucket of popcorn. I dropped my phone behind my seat and it glowed half the movie. I watched the original Superman. In the first ten minutes on Krypton, I thought I liked the new one better. But then once we returned to Earth, it became clear the original is where it's at! I love the witty one liners, and how it didn't make me want to burst into tears the whole movie like Man of Steel. Can't wait to see the next ones! (Of the originals) I got so excited when one of my primary kids was the spotlight and they said their favorite story is when Nephi built the boat because I'd taught that lesson a few weeks before. Then I later remembered that the parents fill out those sheets at the begin...
