Christmas

This year was our first Christmas as a married couple, and first together in two years so I was really excited! We were so busy going into Christmas, it didn't feel like Christmas for a bit. But then we watched Elf together which was so fun! Sammy had never seen it before and I was nervous he wouldn't like it but he did. He was quoting it for days.  For Christmas Eve we went to Sammy's parents house. We had tamales and watched a Christmas story. It was my first time seeing that movie and I loved it! Which was a relief since that's Sammy's favorite Christmas movie. We also watched Jingle All the Way. Oh boy that was cheesy!  On Christmas Day we'd planned on getting up at seven, but we slept in until nine. We made it over to my parents about ten. Sammy brought his own Sunny D with him because he needed orange juice with breakfast.  We had egg mcmuffins and potatoes for breakfast. It was such a fun time with family. We kids played Shindig machine which was hilariou...

46 out of 47

At the beginning of summer, I made a goal to read 47 books by the end of the summer. That was an unrealistic goal. By the end of summer, I read 23 books. And then had two literature classes which kicked my butt. But that is done so yay! I've had time to read a few more books for fun.  It's the end of the year though and time to evaluate how I did on all my goals. I decided to include the books I actually read cover to cover during the semester as well. I thoroughly enjoyed most of them which was fun. So, here at the end of the year, I completed 46 books. One short. I'm so happy with where I am! I didn't think I'd get this close to my goal! I halfway read so many books this semester that it adds up to 47 page wise ;)   Here's what I read to get to 46. The only book not pictured is Where She Went- the sequel to If I Stay. I had it as an ebook.  For my school books: I loved all the Shakespeare.  I hated Gullivers Travels.  There was too much beheading in Oroonoko f...

Flying

Last year when I started going to counseling for my anxiety, the first thing she asked me was one of my goals. Well, it was to not be anxious anymore. That wasn't the most measurable or realistic goal for me then or now, so she asked me to think of another. So, I settled on flying on an airplane. It was one of my biggest fears for so many reasons, number one being anxiety.  Fast forward to two weeks ago. We were in the middle of Indiana and out options to get home were twenty hour road trip or flying. Sammy and I decided on flying. I tried not to think about the fact I was flying as little as possible. The airport was a five hour adventure. I watched one plane landing and freaked out so I didn't do that. Sammy was so awesome. He explained everything about the plane in detail so I'd know what to expect. My dad gave me a bunch of flying tips and that really helped since I know he gets sick like me. We got  on the plane and it was a lot smaller than I thought it was going to b...

Weekend Trip

This weekend has been plain craziness! On Thursday Sammy's grandma passed away. I'm so glad I got to meet her.  After an afternoon of crazy texts, I found out we were leaving Friday morning and we were driving to Indiana. Driving. In one day. It was rough and hard and so long but we made it. I tried to take a selfie in every state.  Kansas  I swear, Divergent was happening out there.  Missouri  Kentucky  I had a picture from Illinois but since it was so late, it was awful. I didn't take any pictures in Indiana surprisingly.  This was my first time east of Colorado. I saw a lot of things like the St. Louis arch, Amish people, and I almost saw the lovely Bailey from becomingbailey.com  I met so many family members and got about five hundred hugs daily. Luckily we got our own hotel room with a jacuzzi tub! After twenty hours in the car, I needed a break from the inlaws.  The service was very beautiful and a bit strange to me. It was my first Car...

This weekend

This weekend was crazy! From getting my hair dyed, trying acupuncture, and going to my first Nuggets game, I'm pretty tired.  I got blonde highlights on Friday. It was a really fun experience. I went to the Aveda hair institute because I thought it'd be a lot cheaper but it wasn't since my hair is so thick so they had to use extra dye. Oh well, it was worth it. I got a hand massage, head massage, hot towel, peppermint oil rubbed on my temples. It was amazing!  On my way to get my hair done though, I forgot my wallet so I had to go back home. Oh boy.  It took a lot longer to get my hair done though than I thought and I had an appointment for acupuncture so I was running late for that. I was able to keep my appointment though. Acupuncture was weird. I was trying it to see how it helped with anxiety. First I was asked about everything in my life. Then the needles went in. The ones that went in my feet hurt going in along with the one in my hands. The other ones didn't hurt...

Zombie Crawl

This year Sammy, Michael, and I did zombie crawl. It's the countries largest parade of zombies. It was a lot of fun! I dressed up as a basic white girl zombie and cracked myself up. No one else understood it but that's ok. The boys did their own makeup and took so long they missed their bus. Such a fun day!  I even got blood on my fake Starbucks!  The boys made a few babies cry when we were walking to and from zombie crawl . Haha! The missionaries told us last year they were in Denver during zombie crawl and had no idea what was happening and thought the world was ending.  Zombie crawl is more proof that Colorado is where it's at:)

We want a puppy

Sammy and I want a dog so bad. But it's just not in the cards for us right now. With school and work we're never home. And honestly, I love it just being the two of us for now. But then we'll make the mistake of looking on the animal shelter website and seeing the perfect dog. Then we throw all that discussion to the wind and almost go to the shelter. Then we remember why we shouldn't get a dog right now and start all over again.  So, we'll just play with this cutie until we're ready.

Promotion!

I recently got a promotion at work! Im now in charge of in store promotions and running an orientation team. I'm really excited about this new job because I was getting burnt out and so frustrated with my other one. It's still pretty stressful right now because I'm transistionimg out of my old job and they're training new people. I'm so thankful for this new job and the opportunities it will give me!  In other news, here's some awesome pens I got at the store and a cute notebook from target. I'm doing nanowrimo again but made myself a more attempt able goal of ten thousand words instead of fifty. :) Anyone else out there participating?

Staying true to the name

The name of my blog is Crazy socks and Writers block. So, I had to buy these when I saw them. I have a thing for garden gnomes:) Now excuse me while I go work on the writers block

This Semester

So far this semester  I helped my parents move  Tried Cafe Rio  Found the real quote for Fault in Our Stars  Turned 21 and had lots of Frankenberry  Enjoyed many Sprite and cranberry juice mixes  Cheered for the bears and broncos. (Although I really don't care what happens to the bears.) Got an A on my Shakespeare midterm Made Ramen noodle quiche-it was SO good!  Had lunch with my parents and rocked the crazy socks.  Rediscovered my love for overalls. Got Sammy what I thought was the coolest birthday present ever, then used it to make pumpkin cookies for him. When the house smelled like cookies, I disguised it by cutting up and onion and letting it sit.  Got a free pizza from the Book It alumni program.  Named our skeleton Clarence after who had just died in Richard III Had my blood drawn for the first time.  Lost a chicken.  Had a couple sick days watching House with my complimentary foot drawings from Sammy.  Kept the eg...
