Weak Things Will Become Strong

Today, I'm giving a final presentation for my Honors and Leadership program. It's for a group project that we've worked all year long on. To be honest, we didn't get anything done. We half tried a lot of things and failed at a lot of things. Today I have to stand in front of fifty people with my group and do a presentation that I've been dreading for a year. The nice thing is that I'm so burnt out by this point that I don't even care how it goes.  Today is one of the hardest days of the year for me, and it has nothing to do with school. Three years ago today my life completely changed. I almost lost someone. I honestly see my life as before this moment, and after this moment. Today holds some of the most painful memories of my life. It changed how I look at life, and the world. It changed how I live my life. It changed everything.  This date has held so much power over me. The first year I spent a lot of time preparing myself to deal with the ann...

Gerald the Fish

There's a new member of the Gomez family... Meet Gerald the fish!  We adopted Gerald from my friend Kelsey, who is moving to Taiwan. Understandably, Gerald could not join her on this journey, so I offered to take him. I've always loved fish and have been wanting to get one for awhile. Our grocery store is next to a PetsMart and I almost walk in there every time we need food. But now, we got a fish for free along with all his needs.  I had two fish in high school, one living three months and the other living three days. Gerald is already a year and a half old, and he literally just lives in a bowl. My former fish had the tanks and everything. So I'm doing exactly what Kelsey did in hopes that Gerald can live another year and a half. While I don't really like the name Gerald (it reminds me of this kid in elementary school who was gross and would leave half chewed sandwich bits on his water bottle lid. Shudders) I do like Gerald. We had a bit of trouble at...

Things We've Learned About Each Other Since Getting Married

Sammy and I were together 3 1/2 years before we said I do. Everyone said that as soon as we were living together, that'd we learn so much about the other. I knew that learning to live together would be a bit of a learning curve, but was convinced that I knew everything about Sammy. I was well aware that sometimes he would have gas, and other normal human things.  Nearing our two year anniversary though, I've realized that there were a LOT of things that I didn't know about Sammy, and he didn't know about me. Here are some of the things we've learned about each other these past two years.  Things I've Learned About Sammy  *Pizza gives him heartburn. I would get so frustrated with Sammy when he'd turn down a trip to get pizza if we'd had pizza within a week, or wouldn't want to have pizza if I'd made a pizza flavored meal earlier in the week. I attributed this to his weirdness about certain foods (mainly sweets) and just rolled my eyes...

It All Worked Out

Well... I got the job! Come May, I'm going to be a library clerk! This is my best sexy librarian picture, taken six years ago. Please note Sammy's necklace that I'm wearing. I'm so incredibly thankful and blessed, and honestly can't believe how this all happened! As I mentioned before, I had a job interview coming up. When I had the interview, I wasn't sure how it went. There were two people interviewing me, and one seemed to like me, while I couldn't read the woman who'd be my actual supervisor. The position I interviewed for was Library Assistant. I would be creating programs for teens and kids, along with going out into the community and educating people about the library. Where this library is located is a high immigrant population and many people have never been in a library before, much less know how to use a computer.  That position seemed like something I would enjoy, but would definitely be a challenge. My last job was a lot of outr...

Things Will Work Out

I'm supposed to be working on my novel/homework at the moment, but I'm too excited to get anything done, and I want to remember this, so here I am!  I'd been begging Sammy to take a day off for.ev.er. His work has been pretty stressful, and I miss him, and there's a lot of things we needed to get done, like renew the lease, meet with his school advisor, and get our monthly temple visit in. We've been going every month, and with yesterday being the 31st, we really needed to get our March visit in.  Side note- I seriously love the temple. I never thought I would love it this much. I never enjoyed going on youth temple trips. I never felt that peace that everyone talked about having the moment they entered the building, feeling the worries of the world melt away. Instead I was always stressed and on edge. But going now, I feel those things. I feel that instant peace and relief. I feel at home. I feel a happiness and closeness with my husband that's indescr...
