If everyone could be a little bit kinder. A little bit softer. A little bit nicer today. And then do it all again tomorrow. That would mean everything.

Little Bit o Writing

I've finally written something! This is part of a short story I'm working on for class, here's what I have done so far. “Hey Julie. Could I go with you to the studio today, learn some tips?” the new guy Lance asked. I about told him that he'd be better off observing someone else, I'd only been here two years after all, but then that rather large place in the back of my head that loved to over think things started screaming, “Flirting! Flirting!” I made a mental note to relay this situation to Lorraine when I got home tonight to see if she thought so. Ever since she'd gotten engaged, she lived vicariously through my pitiful love life for what she called excitement. I called it shameful. “Yeah, sure. No problem. I was heading there now actually.” “Cool cool,” Lance said. He followed two steps behind me down the stairs to the basement where my studio was located. He probably thought I was going to trip in my heels or something. I wasn't...

Brain Farts

Yesterday was full of brain farts. Like, a lot. I read the news that it was going to snow, saw it was sunny outside and said, ya know what, I'm only taking a little jacket with me. That wasn't very fun walking to the bus stop. I forgot to refill my medicine until the last minute, then realized it had no refills. When the doctor asked when my last menstrual cycle was, I told her a day in the future. Forgot what week it was. Zipped two different jackets together and didn't notice until I went to take a nap. I was giggling in my sleep. For a good ten minutes. I never would have known without Joice. I was so excited for the new episode of NCIS, that I arranged a way for myself to watch it in a friend's room. Seven o clock rolled around and I went over to their room. He wasn't there, and his roommate and girlfriend were watching tv. They very kindly said that I could watch it though and left. So I sat there and flipped through the channels, so confused w...

4/20 Denver Style

For my first 4/20 being in the capitol where all of the pot lovers gather to smoke their now semi legal pot in front of our state capitol, it went good. I was expecting a lot more weed and a haze of smoke to fill the air. That was probably in Boulder though. I only was overcome with the smell of weed at the bus stop, and on the highway when we entered Denver again. It was pretty funny, the smell just came right up outta nowhere and we all laughed. I did see a group of friends from 10th grade crossing the street though, blunts in hand. Small world huh?  I went to my first bridal shower on Saturday! It was so much fun! It was even funner to get to drive there with my girl friend and sing in the car the whole time there and back. It was for my friend Alex, we're the same age and getting married a few months apart. She was baptized in October and is my only other LDS friend in the building. It's really funny to hear her takes on everything for the first time, like how singles wa...

Gibb's Gut

Ever watched NCIS? If you haven't, you should. Anyways. Gibbs, the main character who is freaking amazing and immediately after the Boston bombings Sammy and I both said how we wished Gibbs was real because he would take care of this. I'm very grateful that the FBI doesn't operate and act like they're portrayed in NCIS, and I'm very grateful for the work they and every law enforcement and citizen has done this week. American pride. Back to Gibbs. Gibbs always follows his gut. If something doesn't feel right to Gibbs, then it isn't right and they need to keep looking. As the years go by, every other character begins to learn how to listen and follow to their guts as well, leading to justice. I've envied their guts and put more trust in what I initially feel in situations. Then I took intro to psych and was schooled in just how off gut instincts can be. Friday, we had a speaker in our class. Her name's Jeanne Assam.  Her website is here.  I was abo...

Street Harassment

I'm fed up. Fed up with street harassment. The last couple days around campus, these signs have been hanging around. I felt like clapping and shouting for joy. Or yelling AMEN like they always do on those tv shows. I went through  http://www.stopstreetharassment.org  and read more to see what they were all about. It was refreshing, and angering. Because street harassment is a problem, and the people who are doing it aren't the ones who are going to see these posters on campus.  I'm fed up. Wherever I go, I'm a paranoid mess. I hate going places on my own. I dread times when I have to take the bus, train, or even just walk through a parking lot. Because I'm worried that I'm going to get harassed, and it has happened. I hate being at red lights because of the cars that roll down their windows. Sometimes, I hate walking into my dorm because of the groups of guys standing outside, who knows if they live there, and their stupid smirks and nods and whist...

Dentist kisses

I'm trying not to focus on the Boston Marathon. So much tragedy in this country in such a short amount of time. My thoughts and prayers are with all those people in Boston, their families, and all affected. I hope they catch who did this, soon. I'm choosing not to focus on the bad. I'm focusing on all the goosebump worthy stories of the people of Boston posting all their personal information on the internet for the world to see, so that those people can find a place to stay tonight. I'm focusing on all the help people gave, how they rushed to help everyone else. I'm focusing on the Spirit that's comforting me, telling me it's ok, it's going to be alright, and that Christ is with those people giving them comfort. I'm focusing on all the conference talks that I watched and rewatched about the way to find peace in this scary world is through Christ. That Christ is there, and he's always there, and he can get us through anything. Anything. So I wan...

Say Yes?

Well. Today I went dress shopping. And it was a really fun experience! I went a few weeks ago, and that wasn't as fun. I almost fainted because everything was so tight! And I looked like a little girl playing dress up. This time though, I felt sophisticated, it was a much better experience, and I may have found THE dress. I know it's one of these ones, but at the store I thought I was going to get one dress. But as I got home and looked through the pictures again, I think another one will work better and is really THE one. I'm going to sit on it though.  I thought it'd be fun to put the pictures up here and let you all see! Tell me which dress is your favorite! If there's two pictures together, it's the front and back.  How was dress shopping for you?  I like the lace and buttons on this dress     Love the top and flowyness of this dress. Really love the neck, top, and ruching on this dress. Not sure about the train though. This...

Sammy Speaks

(I let Sammy write on the blog today. This is what he had to say. No editing from me.) Kylee likes fries. She steals my fries. Just kidding i offered them to her cause i like her. Kylee drools when she naps. I think its cute. I am Sammy. Yes that Sammy. I still do not understand the female brain. I have been with Kylee for a while and I still have no idea how it functions. It goes from here to China sometimes! The female mind is pretty funny too, like Kylee's. I don't think I will ever fully understand how women's brains work. Women are always thinking about something! I would be so tired if I thought about something every minute of the day! Why think so much? Thats okay though! Guys we don't think about anything at all a lot of the time, we just do things. And are like yeah, I'm doing stuff! Thinking for long periods of time wears me out. But my favorite subject is philosophy! I'm a strange man. I wish I could have seen more of General Conference but that...
