I apologize all you robots

Sorry blog world. I'm going to have to turn the captcha back on my blog. I keep getting the weirdest comments that could only be from a machine. Real people don't talk like that, and don't think the story of me kinda sorta almost dating Sammy's best friend for a day is that  brilliant. But robots must. I'm sorry for the added hassle if you want to leave a comment. All you real people out there though, thank you so much for your sweet words. :)

Why I should go into decorating

Need I say more?  I don't know about you, but I would definitely be more inclined to buy pencils if they were inside a skull. It doesn't get much more awesome than that. When I suggested this to the people in charge of supplies at work though, they weren't too fond of the idea. Something about creeping out the customers.  Pretty sure when I get my own house, I'll definitely be storing things in skulls. They speak to me. And maybe, I can get all the different skulls I learned about in bio anthropology and explain to everyone who comes over the differences between the austrolopithocines.  I'm considering going into interior design with a minor in bio anthropology. Just kidding. They don't even offer those at my school. Guess I'll chug along with the writing dream.

Letting Go

It's been almost two weeks since Ginger ran away. Luckily I've been pretty busy this week so I haven't had much time to think about it. But I wish Ginger was back. Every time I've thought of her since she's gone I haven't felt anything, in the sense of if I thought maybe someone had her I didn't feel good about that, or that she wasn't alive anymore, I didn't feel good about that. There was just a confusing feeling of nothing. Yesterday I got a few texts from friends saying someone had found a little white dog a mile from our house. My heart started racing and I couldn't believe it! I had secretly wanted to be the one to find Ginger all this time. Every time I got in the car I would drive real slow and scan for her. I climbed into the ditch hoping I'd find some trace of her. I wanted to be the one who brilliantly thought of the place where she'd gone and scooped her up and brought her home. So when I got responses from the picture I...

Week One, Semester Two

The first week of the semester is over. Now that I'm here looking back, I can't believe how smoothly the week went. There was a whole lot of dread coming into this week and now it's all done. This of course wouldn't have been possible without a whole lot of awesome people. Who will be mentioned in the respective recaps. Quick recap- Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. day, but I had to work. It was only a five hour shift though and went alright. I spent all night feeling crazy though. Oh, the joys of my overactive overthinking brain during that wonderful time called PMS. I made the great decision to write down what I was feeling that day and just reread it. Quite funny. Tuesday- first day of creative writing and criminal justice class. I felt so at home in my creative writing class. I can already tell this is going to be a great class and makes me more confident in my major choice and career choice. My heart just wants to sing and I feel incredibly inspired. I'm a...

Primary- Day one

Today was my first day back in primary as well. I was completely out of my element and felt pretty lost. I'd forgotten that little kids don't know it's not ok to touch each other. Or to spit. Or punch each other in the stomach. Or that I need to assist in the hand washing. Or that the most entertaining thing one can do during singing time is kick someone else's chair. Totally forgotten these things. But I also got a few good laughs. When asking one girl to put her skirt down, she informed me that it wasn't a skirt, it was a Christmas dress. And that she'd recently caught a butterfly in a bowl.  I was asked to snuggle with. I read a question out of the lesson manual that was somewhere along these lines- You're with some friends and they want you to drink alcohol. Your parents told you not to drink alcohol. What should you do? I almost couldn't read this paragraph out loud because I found it so, ridiculous. Guess you have to start the alcohol talks young...

I'm back!

I'm back in my dorm! Back in the city, back in school mode, and I'm excited. It felt so nice to put all my clothes away in my closet. To hang a few new things on the wall. To dance with my roommates and catch up on girl talk, remembering why I love them so much. The fire detector needs batteries though, so my ears hurt a bit. I wish I could just replace them, but sadly, I cannot. Oh well. Being back makes me even more excited to get my own apartment next year and decorate it and have it be MY space. It's good to be back. Now that I am back, I can load the pictures that were stuck on my camera. Like the day Joice and I wore the exact same outfit. Jeans, shirt, everything.  The butt shot is necessary to see the distinct pocket patterns. We also did some redecorating. There's this author who hands out his books and accompanying cd for free on campus. They both stink. I really did try to read and listen to both but I just couldn't do it. They've bee...

Pay it Forward

One of my new favorite blogs,  Bailey's College Life  is doing something really cool! It's called the creative pay it forward! Here's how it works. (In Bailey's words.) The details:   The first 5 people to comment with their email and blog address, will receive from me, sometime in this calendar year, a gift - perhaps a baked good, jewelry, music - a surprise in the mail! There will likely be no warning, and it will happen when the mood strikes me. The catch:   Those five people must make the same offer on their blog! Such a great idea! I love sending mail and getting mail, and I absolutely love all you bloggers out there and getting the chance to know you! So, get your comment on, and then be keeping your eyes peeled in the mail! Thanks Bailey for such a cool idea!

Ginger

She's been gone for 24 hours now. I got home from work last night, and she was gone. She often escapes, but usually sits in the front yard and some random kind stranger will bring her back to us. This time she dug a hole in the back of our fence. Behind our fence is open space. A field. A ditch. She left last night and it was freezing. Below zero temps last night. Our little dogs been out there for 24 hours. I miss her. I miss her stealing my socks. Walking on any project I happened to be working on. Scratching incessantly because she wants something. Her attacking me and Sammy whenever he comes over, even though it drives me nuts. I miss my little Gingy. I hope by some miracle, she comes back to us.

Didn't fool me Dasani

I may be a little behind on the times, but yesterday I learned there is salt in Dasani. Who puts salt in water? I've always hated Dasani with a passion, it's so nasty, and gross, and now salty. Everyone thought I was weird. All I have to say now is HA. Didn't fool me Dasani!

At your local bookstore

Today was the first day of "rush" at the bookstore once again. Basically, it's busy because everyone's supposed to be buying their textbooks. There were more employees than customers in the store today though which I was completely ok with because I had time to do so me realizing. I love working there because of the people. The people are what make it amazing. Whether they be my fellow employees or the crazy customers. Over the course of one semester, that bookstore has become like another home. One filled with very expensive books. I also realized just how much I've learned there over just four months. I was schooling the group lead in charge of me today. I felt bad being one of those people, but I just couldn't help it today. I've met some interesting people at the bookstore. The old woman who spent five minutes talking to herself at my register. I literally couldn't get through to her. The people who tell me their life stories in the space of a fe...

There was a time

After yesterdays football game, which I did not watch, I was inspired to write a song about how I felt. Particularly when I opened up my facebook. See, I have a few of those facebook friends who feel the need to update us all on the play by play with multiple paragraphs. It's to the tune of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Mis. There was a time when I actually read, There was a time when I cared what you said, There was a time, And then it all went wrong. Football season began once again, And you felt the need to keep us updated, With the play by play we could have saw, If we cared what was happening. They need to take your facebook away, Until you learn to use it properly. Perhaps you will one day, When the season ends and we can all take a collective breath! But you also like basketball. And hockey, lacrosse, and musicals. Your love of sports killed the dream I dreamed.

I hope they like to color

Today I was set apart as a primary worker! Basically, I get to teach the kids at church. Right now, I get the opportunity to teach the four year olds and I'm very excited. And a bit nervous as well. Lets just say that I was the girl you called to babysit when everyone else was out of town because it's 4th of July weekend. I'm better now, I hope! There's ten little four year olds in there and I'm excited to teach them. Teach them about Christ and how he loves them. Being blessed with an awesome memory, I can actually remember my primary teachers when I was around that age, and how much I looked up to them. I hope to be able to be somewhat to the capacity those teachers were to me. Then again, when I was set apart they mentioned having patience. Oh that word, there it is again.  I just hope they don't pull my hair out. Then again, maybe that will help it get longer. That'd be nice. I hope they like to color. Because I LOVE to color and will use any excus...

Red, the blood of angry men!

Just saw Les Mis. It was AMAZING! Indescribably amazing. The goosebumps on my arms started with the first words of Look Down and didn't stop until the credits were over. My. Goodness. So good. If I was rich I'd go see it again. And then again. And then maybe three more times. Ahh! Such a great movie! I'm glad I waited to see it with Sammy and my sister. I hate watching love stories by myself because I get all sad and miss Sammy. Waiting to see it until I was home was a great decision. I saw Les Mis back in high school, and was so glad to have seen it again! This time, I was able to understand ALL the jokes. Haha ; ) Favorite quote? Sammy going Friend Zoned when Eponine brought Marius to Cossette. Still can't get over how incredible it was. What was weird though, was some coincidences that happened today! So, back in 8th grade, I had a best friend named Jessica. We were going to different high schools and were very sad about it. There was some high school event, an...
