Easter in Primary

Easter in Primary with the little kids was quite fun. Everyone was dressed up in their new clothes, excited about what the easter bunny had brought.  But they were all aware of the real meaning of easter, that Jesus Christ died for us and then was resurrected for us all. I never felt the spirit so strong when my teaching partner held up a picture of Jesus, and pointing to each kid individually said," Did you know that Jesus loves you? That He knows your name and He loves everything about you." Each kids face lit up so bright as it was their turn, and as they nodded saying yes, He knew them. He loved them. I hope they never forget that. During singing time, one boy was crying because he didn't get a turn. Two boys from my class just walked right up to him and said, hey, why are you crying? Why are you sad? Don't be sad, it's ok. I think I'm going to try that approach next time one of my friends is upset. I love being in primary with the little kids, and I wa...

Young Women Broadcast/testimony

I watched the Young Women broadcast voluntarily for the first time tonight. I'm on a spiritual high right now. There were so many messages and things that were said that seemed to be said just for me. After having a conversation with a young women earlier this week, I left feeling hopeless. Sick. And so very grateful that certain people came into my life exactly when they did, that I had the friends I had, the leaders, and parents who listened and tried their best to understand. Most importantly, a loving Heavenly Father who knew me, everything about me that I didn't even know, and loves me so much. Who will never leave me. As I was feeling hopeless, I talked it out with my mom and Sammy. And I came to the realization that, if you can take out the girls of the world, everything afterwards will be ruined. In the reverse, if you save a young women, you save the future. Sadly, the teenage years effect everything else in our lives. Choices we make then can and will decide the re...

Date night- Take two

Before commencing the reading of this post, please turn on Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. It will make it that more exciting. A week ago, I had a date night to go down in the history books. Haha. So this weekend, I was a little nervous to head out of the house, especially after an afternoon that left me out of breath. All that worrying as it usually is, was for nothing. It was a great night! We went and saw the Host. It was mediocre as a movie, but still a good watch. A lot of the storyline was lost because most of it is internal dialogue, and you can only have so much internal dialogue in a movie. I enjoyed it though, it was better than a lot of movies I've seen. (Have you ever seen Hana? Don't. Dumbest. Movie. Ever.) Plus, ya know, it kinda helped the two guys were attractive. ;) I got a bit upset during the previews for other movies though, because there was one that had the exact same plot line as a story I've been working on. Like, we're talking exact. I HATE ...

Little punk me

I got an email informing me that my first blog, Confessions of a Blondeish Zombie, turned three years old yesterday. So naturally I went through and read all the posts and then laughed hysterically. Little punk me was, well, little. And liked to post anonymous conversations she had with boys on her blog. And copy sad love quotes about boys. And then had to change her blog address because she had a crazy stalker from a summer romance gone way wrong, which ended up in this here blog! Oh, little punk me. If you want to read, here's the link ! By the way, I had a tumblr before it was cool and people just reposted a million pictures on it.

Tuesday

Went to the dentist. No x rays! One cavity.  Mom took me to work, Sammy picked me up. Work was slow. Dr. Scholls inserts are awesome. People are full of sweet words. Grilled cheese sandwich waiting for me. Cold water too.  Singing in the car. Handing the man at Blockbuster a display case, him explaining that it is indeed just a display case. Bachelor season finale. U.S vs Mexico game. Sawwy! The moon. The sun.  Feeling alive.  Tuesday.

Girl time

I got so caught up I didn't get a chance to blog about my adventure last Thursday. Kelsey came down to visit me! We've been friends since seventh grade. Sometimes sister status, other times we couldn't stand each other. But here we are, still friends. I love that we can just pick our friendship back up all the time no matter where it's been or how much has changed. I love taking her down around the city. Usually she's the one who has to show me around. And now I'm the one who got to lead her around. We took the train for the first time, it was quite the adventure. I felt like I was in Jurassic Park. We had dinner, talked, talked, talked, talked, and oh yeah talked. Sammy went to lunch with a guy friend the other day, they spent less than an hour together. We spent about four and even that wasn't enough. It was great to laugh and catch up. So good, no pictures were taken! I'll forever be grateful for girl time : )

Bowl Half Empty

It's been a crazy weekend. But, this morning, I thought of some reasons to be positive while in the shower. And some jokes for my stand up routine. 1. I'm not pregnant! Not that that was a worry of mine, my wallet still has this in it. Get it? ;) 2. I can say I'm looking at the toilet bowl as half empty and not be called a pessimist.  3. I have no desire to go out to eat ever again. Or eat desserts. So that saves my wallet and my blood sugar. 4. I have no energy to take a long shower- saving water!  5. I wanted to give up the internet during break, staring at a computer screen makes me feel sick! 6. Why am I blogging then? 7. I have lots of time to write. Well, except for reason 4. 8. I have lots of time to read! Well, except reading makes me feel sick too. 9. I'll look awesome for swim suit season now. Except, I don't wear bikinis. Or know how to swim. And there's a foot of snow outside.  10. I have an excuse to nap al...

Date Night

Sammy and I had the BEST date night ever last night. Like, it should go down in the history books. Sammy came over, told me his tummy hurt, then I realized my tummy hurt, then I started freaking out for about an hour, then Sammy stood outside the door while I threw up. And then held me while I felt incredibly sick. Then he had to leave because, oh yeah, he wasn't feeling well too and it's not the best thing to watch your best friend puke when your tummy hurts too. Then we both stayed up all night being sick. Yay us. Oh toilet, I didn't think I'd be spending Spring Break with you.

Writing & advice please?

Today I got so much done, it was a great day. I lifted some huge weight off my shoulders. I met with my English advisor to get on track. Then, I met with My People. Who are my people? The writers of Auraria. Sammy saw a sign on a window that said writing week, and today there was a panel with two authors, a literary agent, and a women who works in a local publishing house. And it happened to be at a time I could attend! With gummy octopi in hand, Sammy and I went to the panel. I was a bit worried that there wouldn't be any people there and almost chickened out at the last second. Thank goodness Sammy was there to give me a kick in the bum and be my buddy. My worry was for nothing though, the room was full of people and an array of notebooks. We writers all have our favorite place to write after all. (Mine is in a comp book, covered in duct tape. Or bookmarks I borrow from work ;)) I emptied out my writing drawer for fun and this is what I found. Which then prompted a nosta...

Credits and all that jazz

Who forgot to tell me that LDS.org is freaking awesome? I just got an awesome history lesson, inspiration, and feel lifted up. If only it counted for credit. Speaking of credits, I finally met with an advisor today. There was a little bit of a freakout in the advising office because they didn't have a file for me. I tried to explain to the lady at the front desk that this was my first time ever having an advising appointment, that's probably why they didn't have a file for me. She wouldn't listen though and started going off about how I was a transfer student and a sophmore and there's no way I couldn't have a file. Finally, she let me go back to talk to an advisor, who was much better at listening. He asked if I'd ever been to advising before, I said no, he said ok! and moved on. I was able to get my major officially switched to Creative Writing. It might have been confusing as to why I hadn't taken ANY pre nursing classes haha! The advisor ran th...

Tights

I love lace. It makes me feel elegant and pretty. Which is why I was pretty excited to wear these today. But then I ripped them. So now I am sad because I love them. But that's ok. They made me feel awesome on this dreaded Monday. I'm really not a tights person though. I feel bad for all those little girls at church who get stuffed into them every week.
Wasn't even looking for these, but they just popped up when I needed them. " Think the best of each other, especially of those you say you love. Assume the good and doubt the bad."    " And as we speak of this, may I remind you, as Mormon explicitly taught, that this love, this ability, capacity, and reciprocation we all so want, is a gift. It is "bestowed"—that is Mormon's word. It doesn't come without effort and it doesn't come without patience, but, like salvation itself, in the end it is a gift, given by God to the "true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ." The solutions to life's problems are always gospel solutions. Not only are  answers  found in Christ, but so is the power, the gift, the bestowal, the miracle of giving and receiving those answers. In this matter of love, no doctrine could be more encouraging to us than that. " "Like ships, people have differing capacities at different times and even differen...

My boyfriend reads the Ensign

My boyfriend reads the Ensign. (Church magazine.) I got annoyed with the Friend as a kid. (Kid church magazine.) My boyfriend reads talks and watches videos on Sunday as "homeschooling" and absolutely loves talking about scriptures. I got excited when we had a church snow day. My boyfriend has some of the strongest faith I've ever seen. I struggle with doubt and over thinking things. My boyfriend has a love for the gospel. Sometimes I take it for granted. My boyfriend inspires me. And I hope to inspire him. I can't wait till the day he's baptized. It's going to be an amazing day indeed. :) He likes to say that he was born a member. The day it's "official" will be here sooner than we know it. But that doesn't stop him from rocking my crazy socks off in the spiritual department. Haha! Which is why I put LDS.org on my bookmark bar, before Yahoo news. Hopefully I can get a meaningful message in my day before catching up on the Kardash...

Stripes and Polka Dots

They just go together

Time

Like a lot of people in this world, I took the five love languages quiz, hoping to figure myself out. Going in, I was sure that my love language was touch. There's nothing I love more than having my hair played with, hugs, back scratches, all that nice stuff. But as I read the analysis, it said touch was tied with quality time. I've been giving that a whole lot of thought lately, and the more I think about it the more it makes sense. All those little crazy silly things that drive me nuts or make me upset all have to do with a lack of quality time. All those times I've felt alone have to do with time. Most of my worse fears have to do with time. It all has to do with time. If I'm not happy, it's usually because of time. At least, that's my theory of the moment. But looking at it that way gives me hope that I'll be able to work things out and everything will be alright. On another note, I straightened my hair last night, and it's the longest it's e...

An Ode to VS

Today we wrote poems in class in about twenty minutes. My teacher keeps telling me to speak up so I decided to read this one to the class. I got some very positive responses, so I thought I'd share it here. The topic of the free write had to be Everyone's done _______ (insert odd activity) Here's mine. Everyone's Dressed a Victoria's Secret Mannequin Giggled while holding the plastic curves Jumped when the headless for fall to the floor Finding it's best to hold her around the middle Cringed at the synthetic fabric Full of goosebumps That's so in right now. Struggled to slide the stumps in Just right. Oops. Wedgie. Wondered why the hooks hold tight And stab. Is this what men feel? Slip the straps on and  Try to cover those  Fake plastic B's

Can I get yo numba?

I'm an old woman trapped in an almost 20 year old body. I've known this for awhile, and just in the past few years embraced it. When I was little and my mom would take me visiting teaching with her (visiting other ladies in the church to check up and share a message) I would always sit and listen to their conversations. I didn't want to go play with the kids, I wanted to hear them share birth stories and discuss grocery shopping. Anyways. Lately though, I've found myself trying desperately to hide my age. Because when people hear it, they think stupid drunk college student without care in the world who doesn't know anything. And I will admit, I have TONS to learn. And I'm young. But I can assure you that my feet are more mature than most the people living on my floor. Oh the stories. . . I hate that no one will take me seriously though. I've gotten in a few awkward situations, and have found a few ways around it. 1. When my roommate was planning how much...

Good morning

This morning, was good. I got to sleep in. My class was pushed back an hour and a half. I got three phone calls. Two of them were Sammy calling to tell me his class was cancelled and he was right outside to say hey. I got to eat my lucky charms with his arm around me while he read the news. It was a quiet simple morning with my best friend. Perfection? I think I got to see a bit this morning. This is from a few months ago. But it's exactly what he was wearing today. So it'll do.
