Movies that make Sammy cry

When I wrote about The Fault in Our Stars, I included Sammy's commentary on the trailers. He recently read my blog and told me that I forgot something. When we saw the trailer for the movie "When the Game Stands Tall" I said that Sammy said that my favorite guy from Person of Interest was on it. But Sammy also said and I quote, "That movie will make me cry." Mr. Reese without the suit. I couldn't believe I forgot he said that! He said it over and over as the trailer played. I guess there's just something about football movies that gets to him. So, I asked Sammy what other movies make him cry. The other two were  And I understood Remember the Titans. That's a pretty great movie filled with so much emotion, and it's also a football movie. But Lord of the Rings? That took some explaining.  See, what makes Sammy cry about Lord of the Rings is Sam and Frodo and their bromance. The scene in the final movie where Frodo has given up b...

19.25/47

I've realized there's no way I'm going to reach my goal of 47 books by the end of the summer. So that goal is being pushed until the end of the year. If I could reach the halfway point, I'd be happy. Here's what I've finished recently! This book was creepy, and sexy, and awesome! It's also very long, about 500 pages. I read the first book, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer two years ago so it took me a bit to get back into this one and remember everything that happened. Once I got into the groove, I couldn't put the book down. The plot is so complicated I'm not even going to attempt to sum it up. I sped through this book thinking the third book was already out but it doesn't come out until November. The book ends on a pretty crazy cliffhanger, so if you hate waiting, I'd wait to start this book until a bit closer to November. This book is amazing! It's about the mortal daughter of immortal Egyptian gods. I learned a whole lot about Eg...

Voodoo Donuts

On Tuesday I took the day off of work because I thought I was having an allergic reaction or weird virus and possibly dying, but it turns out it was just really bad acne. Pretty embarrassing. So, I spent the rest of the day with my mom and brother. They were kind enough to come with me to the Social Security Office so that I could officially change my name. So sweet. It was so nice not having to be there alone because there were some, interesting people there. We waited about an hour and then it was done! Next, we went to Voodoo Donuts! My mom said it's on her summer bucket list and I've been wanting to go there for awhile. I originally saw them on this episode of Leverage where my favorite character is eating the fruit loop donut, so I needed one. Good things come in pink boxes. I felt like a little kid sitting in the backseat. My brother called shotgun. That donut was so sweet that it physically hurt to eat it the last few bites, and I have a very big sweet tooth. ...

Dog Sitting

On Sunday, we got to dog sit Misty! It was so much fun! I've missed her since I've moved so getting to play with her all day was great. It definitely didn't help with my wanting of our own puppy though. First, she came over to our apartment to play. It was so cute watching her explore. She followed Sammy around everywhere.  Helping him make lunch  AFter lunch, we'd been planning on going to Sammy's parents house, so we brought Misty along. She had fun exploring there as well but I was on edge the whole time, trying to make sure she didn't have an accident somewhere. I didn't want the inlays mad at me. She wanted to help Sammy's mom in the kitchen but she was a bit weirded out by that. Especially since Misty loved licking her stove. Friends, clean your stoves if Misty is around. We spent most of the afternoon outside since she sheds a bit and that was the best place. She met the neighbors while out there. She barked a lot. She also barked at...

The Worlds Two Newest

Primary teachers! Sammy and I are teaching the seven year olds at church now. I was really upset about it, but after seeing our class and seeing how well behaved they are, and seeing how excited Sammy is to teach, I know it's going to be ok.  He's such a cutie, he's already read through the lesson:)  Brother and Sister Gomez in the house!  These pictures are completely unrelated but I liked them.

I think I'm funny

At work, we're allowed to wear school clothes on Thursdays. We recently had a meeting about following school rules more closely and only wearing shirts from the three schools on campus. I have two school spirit shirts. One just says CU on it and says Buffalos, the mascot of CU Boulder NOT CU Denver. Ever since we've gotten a mascot, the CU buffalo shirts are not kosher. Wanting to follow the rules exactly, and to get a laugh, I did some editing.  Sammy's gotten me into soccer, well kind of. I've been watching it, which I wouldn't be doing without him. So, I tried this. It didn't work. This isn't technically me, but it's funny. We've got a jedi in the house. :)  I made this awesome apple cake. Actually, I just dumped a can of apples into cake mix and that was it. But it was SO good. Sammy loved it. I loved it too. Sammy doesn't eat sweets as quickly as I do, and well, I might have finished this cake by myself. I sent this to Sammy to i...

The Little Moments

I've been really happy. I love being married. Yeah, there are those random moments where I feel down but for the majority of the time, I'm happy. I'm taking in the little things, the little moments and want to remember them. I love Sundays. I love spending the whole day with Sammy. I love being renewed for the next week and feeling Sammy's arm around me while we grow. I love the brunches Sammy makes afterwards. They're so amazing and it's nice to have a break from cooking. I love having bad dreams then waking up and realizing that Sammy's right there. We'e married, and we're together. I love laying in bed and talking every night. I love curling up and watching the news in the mornings. I love that moment when Sammy finally comes home and I get to hug him again. I love all the compliments Sammy gives me, especially on my cooking. I love that we get to do what we want to do when we want to. On the fourth of July we went on an adventure to...

Our New Friends

We've made some new friends since moving! We've spent a LOT of time with them, and I'm so grateful for that. I love these guys. Unfortunately, they could leave at anytime and we can't just hang out like normal friends. But that's alright. I wouldn't trade them for anything. :) Sister Knowlton and Sister Rodriguez (not pictured) Elder Brennen, Elder Wipfler, and Elder Hoyt The Elders have been over so many times, and the Sisters came over for dinner and I went tracting with them once. It's so cool, they're all our age. They all graduated the same year we did. It's so nice to have SOMEONE in our new ward that's near our age. I love having them over and I love learning with them. Every time any of them come over, they bring the Spirit with them and lighten up our day. Not only are they our friends, but they're our friends in the gospel as well.  I tell everyone about them and their stories. Sister Knowlton talks in her sleep an...

Siblings

I love my siblings. Now I have three which is pretty exciting! These two came over the other night and just hung out and I absolutely loved it! I made them dinner and introduced them to the awesomeness that is Parks and Rec. I felt so grown up and cool that they wanted to come over and hang out with me at my apartment. It was the best. They have some pretty funny stories considering my family is moving and they're getting everything ready to sell the house.  It's so bizarre, I just moved out and now my family is moving. Brinley is going down to Colorado Springs for college and Tanner is going to high school. What's going on here?!  How are we going to hang out and keep up?! Thank goodness Brinley just got a blog :) I love Sundays just talking with them too. They argue over who's going to talk and have so many stories. Tanner reminds me so much of myself when I was his age, which is probably why he drives me nuts sometimes but I still love him. And Brinley ha...

The Fault in our Stars- Featuring Commentary from Sammy

Last week we decided to go on a date and see The Fault in Our Stars on a Wednesday. I loved just going out on a Wednesday because we wanted to. I'd been going back and forth on whether or not I wanted to see the movie because the book affected me so much and with all these changes I've been a bit moody so the last thing I wanted to do was make myself sad. But, after hearing so many good things, I finally decided to take the plunge and am so glad I did. The Fault in Our Stars is now one of my favorite movies. I'm so glad that we saw it. I LOVED it. Shailiene and Ansel did a FANTASTIC job and they couldn't have picked better characters. The movie followed the book exactly, except for two minor details. Augustus doesn't pick Hazel up in a limo, and Peter Van Hout doesn't bring Hazel the paper directly. That's it. I was laughing the entire movie, except for the sad parts of course. Surprisngly, I didn't cry though. I was sure I was going to but I didn'...

Bed Time

Sammy and I are so different. And weird. Well, mostly I'm the weird one. Especially when we're sleepy! I don't know how to make a bed. Sammy is a pro at it and it bothers him if the bed isn't made. My attempt at making the bed. This is the best  Sammy's pristinely made bed. We both love those pillowcases though! They worked out perfectly, my favorite side is the one the girl is on hehe:)  I'm a weirdo and HATE sleeping with sheets on a bed. I hate them. I feel restricted and I can't kick my feet. I also hate bedspreads for the same reason. And the fact they're made of icky fabric. Sammy loves them. Fabric doesn't bother him. So, we have sheets and a bedspread, but at night we fold them in half so they're only on his side of the bed and I sleep with my own separate blanket. So weird! When I roll over and give Sammy no space, he doesn't say anything or gently pushes me. When I have no space, I guess I body slammed him back to h...

Morbid Hamburger Helper

I was making Hamburger Helper for dinner the other night. It was a bit harder than I thought it would be, especially since I had frozen hamburger and I forgot to defrost it a bit before putting it in the pan so I couldn't cut it up into little pieces and I was picturing that little glove coming to help me… But, as soon as I had the meat heated up and it was time to add the milk, I had a thought. One cow had died for the hamburger, and I was covering it in the products of another cow. Oh the irony. I started giggling and feeling disgusted at the same time. I also giggled when I had to dip chicken breasts into a mixture that had eggs. Am I the only one who thinks of these things?

John Adams' Final Words

We had to do a research poem in my poetry class. For some reason, I wrote it about John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, because I've always been obsessed with the fact that they died the same day. Being that that day was the fourth. I felt I would share today. I was going for the idea of, that even when we do amazing things our whole life, people only remember certain things. For example, at this moment I couldn't tell you anything about all the laws and treaties and policies Thomas Jefferson made in his lifetime, but I can tell you about his affair with one of his slaves and how he promised his wife on her deathbed that he'd never remarry. John Adam’s Final Words Thomas Jefferson and John Adams died hours apart on July 4 th , 1826, fifty years after they signed the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson died hours before Adams, yet Adams final words were “Thomas Jefferson survives.” It was a quill and ink that signed One hundred thirty five To his snare. Perhaps...

Things I've Learned

I've learned a few things being married. Things I would have never thought about. Don't leave cut up onions in the fridge. Holy moly so stinky! If you're going to leave cut up onions in the fridge, make sure the baggy is closed ALL THE WAY Don't use towels before washing them. Especially pink towels. They leave fuzzies all over your skin. Don't use pink towels after washing them. They still leave fuzzes all over your skin. Just don't buy pink towels. To put a water purifier on the sink, you might have to unscrew the end. Don't look in peoples windows when you walk by. First off, it's annoying when they look in yours. Second, eww. Leave yourself PLENTY of time if you're going to bike to work. Especially if you've never biked this path before, and it's all uphill. Take your bras out of your husbands laundry if you're doing it at his house and you don't want his mom commenting on them. I never knew people could have s...

Today I discovered Gizoogle. Today has been a very unproductive day since. Gizoogle will Snoop Dog-ify any website you go to. And it's pretty hilarious. Or,  check out what it did to mine . If you do try gizoogle, tell me your thoughts or anything funny you found!

Wedding Reception

We got to ride to the reception in style.  Blogger started to hate me around here so the pictures are all jumbled and I don't have the patience to move them all around haha! Mints my grandma made First dance Cutest flower girl ever! She had all the kids dancing and it was the cutest thing ever! My UHL friends! I love these people so so much! I loved our cake! Some of the flowers my whole family pitched in to make. They were centerpieces This is so embarrassing but I love it at the same time because I LOVED that cake! My mom walked by while we were taking this picture and thought we were being bad ;) So. Much. Good. Food. I had to go in a room and unzip my dress for a bit because I couldn't breathe because I'd ate so much. Sammy's only living grandparent I was probably saying, "Everybody's looking at us!" Our reception was great :) We ended up leaving ...
