Crazy Socks & Writer's Block

Aaron is now big enough to sit in the shopping cart and it is freaking adorable.   He had so much fun looking around at everything and banging on the cart. People didn't stare at me as much when I talked to him and asked for his opinions. I have no cell service in Target so I can never ask Sammy what he thinks about things so it's just me and my bestie Aaron.  We found some really awesome shower curtains on clearance. I found this awesome gold one and decided to put it in Aaron's bathroom so guests don't have to look at all his bath toys when they come to visit.  Then I found two fabric curtains that were $25 for only $4. One was pink splotches and the other was this toucan. I let Aaron pick and he picked the toucan each time so here it is. I like it, except for the fact that the eye stares at me in the middle of the night and creeps me out.  I love my little shopping body and I love that I can put things in the cart now that his carseat isn't...

We were going to church and it was a supposed to be a bit chilly and I couldn't find any matching socks for Aaron. I did find these handmade booties that our neighbor gave us and his feet finally fit in them so we had some fun.  He kept kicking them off but he was so cute!

I don't know if I would classify it as an official haircut, but I had to do something about Aaron's hair. I've been putting it off because I see all the pictures of baby's getting their hair cut and then they look SO MUCH OLDER afterwards and I'm not ready for that. Maybe after his first birthday, but I'm not sure. Plus, there are so many baby's out there that have no hair at all so I didn't want to get rid of his! Aaron kept waking up in the morning looking like this, so it was time to do something.   I put him in his high chair with some teething biscuits and did what I could as fast as I could. As long as he was eating, he was fine.  That was the after. Then my mom buzzed behind his ears and gave me some tips on how to cut it better next time. When I'm ready for that, we'll get there. 

They built a new bowling alley near us and Aaron and I went with my family. It was a ton of fun! Between the four of us, we were able to all take turns bowling, eating, and playing games while also entertaining Aaron.  My mom was a beast at bowling and had a score double of all ours. The second game Aaron needed to eat so my brother bowled on my turns and his and did way better when he was bowling as me.   We won Aaron this bouncy ball with all of our tickets. We also got a bag of M&M's and split it between us all, ending up with four each.   We had pizza and fries and Aaron stole a bite of a fry from me. He chewed it up just fine! Also I love this outfit so much, I want him to wear overalls all the time.  I love the classic arcade games so much!  This is my son.  I love him.   My bother had to crouch quite a bit for this picture since he's almost a foot taller than me. 

Aaron has been to the zoo twice in his short life. We have a sweet friend who brings us with her on her zoo pass. The first time we went it was a bit cold and Aaron's stroller faced me so he wasn't able to really see any of the animals. This second time we went I was excited for him to actually see the animals. Aaron however didn't really care. He rides in this stroller quite often but he's never sat like this before. He refused to hold his head up so I tried to prop it with a blanket.  He just sat there like that through most of the zoo. I tried to get him to look at animals and took him out a few times, but all he would look at was his little friend we were with. The only animal he actually looked at were the bats because they flutter around so quickly.  Aaron had lunch by the gorillas and I had some much needed friend time. We had a great Father's Day. We took Sammy out to his favorite indian restaurant a few weeks early because we knew we'd busy the actual Father's Day weekend celebrating with our dad's. Then the week of Father's Day I took Aaron to Walmart just to do something and we got Sammy his favorite cookies, then walked the entire store trying to find something small that Sammy might like. First I tried to find a battery for his watch but that didn't work out. Then I thought maybe a new wristband for it, but I din't have a clue what he'd like. I found some cool pajama pants but I sent Sammy a picture and he didn't like them. So we settled on the cookies.  We spent a very long time with the cards and finally found a Batman card for Sammy, a Darth Vadar one for my dad, and a sweet one for Sammy's. I wrote a letter inside from Aaron saying all the things he loves to do with his dad. Sammy commended Aaron on his superb handwriting. I had Aaron give Sammy t...

I freaking love Aaron and I love his little personality. He growls all the time when there's something he wants more of, or if you're doing something he doesn't like. He gets so excited when he sees people that he'll jump in my arms and then bury his face in my chest. He's starting to reach out towards people when he wants them to hold him. And he makes the funniest faces. 

I was talking with Sammy one night and he was suggesting I go hang out with all these people to which I kept saying no. I told him I just didn't have the energy. He wondered why and after thinking about it, I told him it had to do with always having to have my guard up so that I don't offend people. I feel like I can't be my true self with people. There are some where I show this side of my self to, and other's where I show a different aspect to. There are parts of me that I know will offend them. Sometimes I swear on accident. I have a really weird sense of humor. I'm a proud feminist (no, I do not hate all men or a lot of other misconceptions about that.) I think about my faith in a different way than those I talk with. I value different things. And on and on.  I'm not trying to say that to be friends with someone you have to like all the same things and think the same way and blah blah blah. Not at all. But, because I feel so different from these people,...

Sammy and I celebrated our five year anniversary. It's funny because we always talked about the big trips that we might go on for that anniversary and a few years ago we'd settled on New York. But that just wasn't in the cards for us now that we're at five years. Finances, ability to travel, wanting to travel, and so many things were in the way. And that's okay! I'm not going to lie and say that I don't feel a little twinge of jealousy looking at people traveling all over to celebrate one year of marriage, or even six months. But I'm perfectly happy with how we spent our five year anniversary. Sammy took the day off to spend with us. Originally we'd wanted to drive up to the mountain town we spent our honeymoon in and walk around. But Aaron woke up late, Sammy's car needed an oil change, I needed to pick up some medicine from a far away pharmacy that I was scared to go to, I needed to water a tree. Aaron has quite a few favorite toys besides your traditional ones. First off there are his feet which have always been his favorite.  Now he loves to play with spoons. He loves the toys my mom bought at an ADHD/Autism centered store. Remi always keeps a close eye on him. Recently he discovered our old high school calculators. We're starting him early on this whole math thing.
