Little Bit o Writing Monday

The beginning of my short story for class.  When Dora's son tugged on her pants leg, the last thing she expected was to see him holding a tooth. A tooth that clearly did not belong to him. She was no dentist, but she was smart enough to know the colossal thing couldn't have come from Mark's mouth. “Mark, where did you find that?” Dora scolded. “In the backyard.” “Show me where,” Dora commanded. Excited, Mark ran out to the backyard, Dora following on his heels. He led her over to the back of the yard, to the particular corner that couldn't be seen from the kitchen window. There, her other two children were gathered around a hole in the ground. Hole was an understatement though, they'd obviously been working on this, pit, for quite sometime. If there had been no tooth, Dora would have sat the kids down and explained how digging holes this deep was dangerous because of all the water, electric, and who knows what else lines were under the ...

THE question game

So. Two years ago, during thanksgiving break, I was texting this cute guy. And we played THE question game. As in the same game from that Sarah Dessen novel, but I'm pretty sure Sarah Dessen doesn't have ownership over said game. It's quite simple to play. You just ask questions, and then answer them. They can be as ridiculous or crazy as you want. I've played this game with quite a few people, but it was never as fun as it was with Sammy. We played all Thanksgiving break, and it was great. Well, not when I asked him why he liked this other girl. Cause he told me she was different and had her own kind of beauty and bla bla bla. I remember thinking to myself, well, people don't get much different than me. Don't worry, Sammy eventually came around ;) Case in point. This is my church outfit. I have never been afraid to mix patterns. And oh my goodness, you should really get sweater tights. They're my new favorite thing. They're tights but they feel like...

Real food/black friday/i was a big girl

Oh, may I testify to the world how true this is. If only I'd known what this week was going to mean to me last year. I'm so grateful that I got to spend it with my family, and, that there was real food. The end of the week is here and I'm really sad. I had a great week with family and getting a break. But now it's over and I have to get back into energizer bunny mode, which is a bit overwhelming. NO! There's about two weeks of school left, and one week of finals and then I'll be done for a whole month! Just getting through these last few weeks seems a little daunting though. Oh well, I'll get through it just like I always do. Hopefully I don't end up puking my first day of break like I did last year though. Good times. My mom and I completely rocked black friday. Let's just say that this girl, named Kylee, who previously had three dvds to her name was able to create her own library of ALL her favorites. And most of them were only $3.99. I'...

Thanksgiving

Today I'm grateful for my loving Heavenly Father. My Savior Jesus Christ and all he did for me. For my awesome family that I get to spend the week with. My parents who I look up to and have gotten through so much and just keep on trucking. My best friend Sammy. The ability to go to college, and experience dorm living. For friends there who respect me. My job at the bookstore. The fact I don't have to worry about working Sundays. The county I live in, and all the men and women who give their lives protecting it. All the freedoms I enjoy. The equality I'm given as a women. My health. Doctors. That I don't know what starvation feels like. That I have so many things to be grateful for that I have trouble thinking of just a few. There's so many things to be grateful for today. It was a great day full of sleep laughs and family. Afterwards we watched Live Free Die Hard. For some reason, Bruce Willis really gets me in the holiday mood. Happy thanksgiving world. Love you!

Breaking Dawn Part 2

I never put my hair up because my ears get cold. Well, just tie a scarf around your head and problem solved. I never knew you could buy movie tickets early until my beloved J.P told me! So, Friday I saw Breaking Dawn part 2 and it was definitely a night to remember! Definitely the best movie in the whole series. I was awed at how great of a job they did bringing everything together, the title sequences alone blew my mind at how artistically they were able to show the part of the book that movie starts of on, where Bella's just laying there turning into a vampire. It was amazing. I'm seeing it again this week, just by the way. They twist blew my mind and had Sammy screaming and me furiously chowing down on popcorn. For some reason it helped with the intense moment. Haha! But first off. Not only was it an amazing movie, but it was an amazing date. Can I just say that I have the best boyfriend ever who will take me to go see Twilight? And he actually likes it? When Sa...

Saturday of the Samurai

I need to catch up on a few stories. Last Saturday I was woken up with a frantic phone call from Sammy. He wanted to know where I was. Since it was 8:30 on a Saturday, I was in bed. He then informed me that a man with a sword had been running around campus, attacked a police officer, and the officer had shot him. The man died. Well, I had work that morning, so with this news, I hurriedly got ready. As I walked to work, I saw flashing lights everywhere. Turns out, the attack had happened a few feet away from the Tivoli (the building I work in.) There were policemen everywhere, crime scene tape up, and photographs being taken of every angle. I stood on my tippy toes, hoping to see anything, but I didn't. Our loss prevention department works very closely with the police department. So, the girl on duty that day filled us in on the rest of the details. The man was homeless, and it had been a samurai sword. He had died here, and the cop had almost lost a finger. I'm very curious...

The best story ever is ending eve.

It's not a secret I like Twilight. And tomorrow, I'm seeing Breaking Dawn Part Two! With Sammy! No, I do not force him to watch these movies. He wants to see them on his own free will, which is pretty awesome if you ask me. We already have our tickets, and I can't wait! I always said that when the last one came out, I'd be in college, therefore I could go see the midnight premier because I'm an adult and I do what I want. Which is why I'm going to be getting my sleep tonight because unfortunately, I have class tomorrow, and unfortunately, it requires all my brain power. But, just two more classes and I get a week off! Well, sort of. I'll be spending most of break working on my first research paper. Blech. But I still have a whole week off as opposed to only three days, like my siblings. Twilight ends tomorrow, and I'm a little sad. When Harry Potter ended, that was my childhood ending. Now what's ending? My love of vampire love stories? Nope!...

HISTORY IN THE MAKING!

It's election day! And I actually got to vote this time! Which makes watching the coverage of the votes really exciting! I was a part of this! Plus I'm watching it in my friends room, and they're already decorated for Christmas so it feels like a holiday! This here, is history in the making, and I get to be a part of it.

Edward and Bella didn't deal with this

Dear Edward and Bella, I read your tale five years ago. I remember eagerly opening the box, opening your shiny cover, and digging in. The desire to not eat or go out, because Bella had just figured out what Edward was. How, at school the next day I was lucky enough to have multiple subs who failed to notice me reading under the desk. How I felt so accomplished when I finished it at lunch, but needed to know what happened next. Begging my mom to take me to the bookstore, and buy the rest. Spending all of spring break reading the second and third. Waiting excitedly all summer for Breaking Dawn to come out, and racing my sister to finish it. My 14 year old self saw that as love, and wanted a similar story very badly. Without the fangs of course. Then I went to high school. The movie came out, and our love affair was ruined. Twilight was no longer cool. Being the conformist I was, I hid my love and pretended to think it was all lame. But I still saw all the movies multiple times, and r...

Hey Brodo

Note to self: Halloween party in college = watching Lord of the Rings. I can dig that. :) Best Sammy quote of the day- "Well, I'm the boyfriend so there's no times I've been right and you've been wrong. Make sure to put that on your blog." HAHA! Found out I have to write a 12 page paper for my honors class. At least the topics cool, we have to describe a society in which everyone is self actualizing with evidence from three books. Guess who's referencing Brave New World?! That would be me. That book has really stuck with me, because the ending made me so angry. You can read about that here . But I can truly say it's one of my favorites and has made me think the most and relate it to everyday life. I keep looking at the Tattered Cover to see if they'll get a cheap copy in, because it's definitely one I want to keep on my bookshelf. I actually got a compliment on my combination of striped cardigan and polka dot pajamas, and it was sincere. ...

Oh Frodo

I remember the first time I watched the Lord of the Rings. It was Spring Break 2010. We did a movie a night, three nights in a row, my dad, sister, mom and me. It was the best Spring Break ever and I'll always remember it! Now, at my house, when you watch Lord of the Rings, we fast forward through all the Frodo parts in the second and third movie. It's a pretty long movie and he's just walking or overcoming his inner evils. I can't count the number of books and movies I've seen with the exact same themes. There's just something about walking a wilderness that makes for a good way to show change. So, for sanity's and our bladders sake, we fast forward through those parts. And I like it like that. This one time, Sammy was over, and he wanted to watch Lord of the Rings. I put the movie in, fixed the sound and everything, then reached straight for the remote and proceeded to watch the movie properly. Sammy was not ok with this, because he is Frodo and Sam'...
