Valentine's Day

This year was our first Valentine's Day as a married couple, and it definitely went differently than I thought it would. We started out our morning making French toast and omelets. It was my first time making French toast, and Sammy's making omelets and they turned out DELICIOUS. We were so full we didn't eat lunch. My parents got me this awesome shirt so of course I had to wear it!  Then, we went ant got Sammy's patriarchal blessing. That was such an amazing experience, I can't even describe it. Let's just say, he's got a pretty cool life ahead of him.  After that we headed up to Dinosaur ridge. It's somewhere Sammy's always wanted to go so we finally went!  They sold fossilized dino poop!  Dino footprints!  Pretty purple rocks  Sammy took this and I love it so much!  That is a dino footprint from the side. The indent is the foot, it's huge! And so cool! They had baby footprints near by t...

Last Day of Break

On the last day of break, we tried to have as much fun as possible. We ended up at the mall, and I got some new boots! When I was little, I loved Jurassic Park. I used to walk around the house with a flashlight saying I was looking for dino droppings. After I got my boots, we saw this huge pile of dirty snow that looked like... Dino droppings! So we took a picture. Then, we went out to Red Robin's for dinner. Since school was about to start, Sammy even let me get a milkshake. So good! After dinner we went to see Selma. It was a great movie! I learned so much and felt so much. It was MLK weekend so the timing was perfect.  After dinner though, Sammy had a tummy ache like he's never had before. It was so bad that we didn't go to church the next day. If I had a tummy ache that bad, I'd be crazy anxious and would have wanted him to stay with me, so I stayed with him. I love my Sammy. Even though he had a tummy ache, it was a fun day to celebrate the last da...

The death of Fernando

January 28th was just like any day. We woke up early, and Sammy dropped me off at the bus. I got to work and started my daily routine. I felt my phone buzzing in my pocket, but figured it was him sending love messages and letting me know he was safe at work. When I finally had some time and made it to my desk, I pulled my phone out. And then promptly started laughing. It said something to the effect of "Hey. So, there's smoke coming out of the glove box. I got a ride to work. I'm not driving Fernando." I don't know why it was so funny to me. Maybe it was because we'd already had a pretty stressful week. Maybe it was because it was the absurdity of picturing Sammy standing outside our smoking car, not knowing what to do. Maybe it was because I'd never heard of glove boxes smoking before. Either way, I was laughing. Hard. So hard people came in and wondered what my problem was.  But January 28th was the day we decided it was time to let Fernando go, and star...

I think I'm funny

I bought the comfiest pajama pants in the world a few months ago. That was quite a shopping trip because Sammy and I had to look all over Old Navy for an XL pair. He didn't understand why I wanted them so big. Here's the thing about pajamas, I have to wear tight clothes all day. When I come home, I want to be comfortable! I love to wear them to my parents house on laundry days. My mom commented that I'd had a pair that looked exactly like them when I was younger. She sent me this picture. Well, I have a red shirt now too, so this happened.  I was bored and decided to go through Sammy's Facebook a few weeks ago. I went back a couple years and saw a status posted our senior year in high school on Sammy's page from a friend. They'd had gym together the semester before, and he said that I was jealous that I couldn't see Sammy in his boxers. So, I decided to reply three years later. I made a friend in one of my English classes. After class, I star...

Work Lately

The past few months, surprising as it is, I've really been enjoying work. It's for many reasons. One, I was promoted and I'm finally figuring out the groove for my new position. Two, my old department got a ton of new people who I like very much so I've made a lot of new friends. And three, we're just silly all. the. time.  We were playing with this fine lady over Christmas. As you can see she is very interested in purchasing a Macbook. We then stuck her in our bosses office for when he came back from Christmas. He just laughed when he saw her and spent ten minutes trying to get the lighting right so he could send a picture to his husband.  I have a desk now in a very cold back room. I found really old candy in one of the drawers and snack on it in the back. And take selfies.   I've always wanted to be a lead since I started working at the bookstore. When I was promoted, no one knew about it. So I was so excited to get my blue shirt. Like, really exc...

January Reads

These are my favorite posts to write. I love books, I love writing, and I love talking about both! Plus, it's so much fun to go back and see just how much I've accomplished. So, without further ado, here's what I read in January this year. I started off reading Never Fade and In the Afterlight, the second and third books of The Darkest Minds series by Alexander Bracken. I could not put them down. This happened one night when I really needed to go to sleep, but just wanted to finish reading. If I didn't have a job, I would have stayed up. It's hard growing up sometimes. I loved this series. It was dystopian without being dystopian. The world was completely recognizable. The people were recognizable. The problems were recognizable. The kids just had powers. Reading this series also got me back in contact with one of my oldest friends Kelsey because she recommended it years ago. I'm grateful that we're talking again, it was muchly needed. The third book w...
