Well, I just finished another semester of college. Which means that I only have ONE left. One. One more semester of school, and then I'm done. That's seventeen years of my life, finished. And then it's time to be a grown up. . . Which is horrifying. But, I'm trying not to stress about that until March when I start looking for jobs.
So much happened this semester! And in the tiny bit of summer since I last blogged. WARNING: This is a long post. I would have broken it up, but I know that I wouldn't have actually finished writing it all if I did.
I burned my hand cooking, and then I had to go get Sammy from work. We don't own any ice packs, so I used this fish. When Sammy saw me sitting in the car holding a fish, he thought I'd finally cracked, and had made it my pet or something. Nope!
Meg Cabot, my favorite author, followed me on Twitter. I've actually had a lot of my favorite authors like my tweets, answer my writing questions, and so on! Twitter is the best, and so are YA authors.
My brother received his eagle scout! I'm so proud of him, and my mom, for all the hard work they've put in over the years. My sister also got accepted to nursing school and is awesome.
On the last night of summer, Sammy, his brother, his cousins, and I went to Voodoo donuts. I got the infamous Voodoo donut itself and it was SOO good. It was a bit scary being downtown that late though.
A man at work had a seizure in the middle of the computer department. He fell into a rack of stuff so hard, he bent the pegs like so, and broke many clean off. I wasn't there when he initially fell, but walked over seconds later to my boss supporting his neck during the seizure. I called 911 but was the third person to do so so they just told me they were aware of the situation. However, another one of my co workers was kept on the phone with the paramedics across the store, so I kept running back and forth between him and my boss, telling him what they'd said.
The seizure itself lasted two minutes which is pretty long. Time itself was going so slow in that moment that it felt even longer. I watched the security footage afterwards and the seizure really was two minutes. It also took the paramedics 15 minutes to arrive, because our school paramedics and the cities were arguing over who was going to answer the call. Don't mind the employees who have no idea what they're doing.
I was so impressed with my manager and how calm he stayed during the whole thing. He drives me absolutely coo coo sometimes but it's good to know that I work with someone who knows what to do. A number of my co workers are also CPR and first aid trained so that was nice as well.
After the seizure the man started turning blue and breathing funny. My manager thought he was dying. A cop finally showed up then and sat the man up, right after the 911 operator told us over the phone to leave him lying down. I went and told the cop that and he just ignored me.
The man ended up ok. I however did not. I had been having cramps all day and extreme period bloating. Since it was the first week of school, I also hadn't eaten in awhile since I had longer shifts. All of that combined with the crazy adrenaline was not good. I had a bad panic attack the whole walk to the bus after work. I could barely walk, scared I was going to pass out in the middle of the street. When I finally made it onto the bus, I thought it would get better. It didn't. I texted Sammy telling him that he better be at the bus stop when I got out because there was no way I could wait for him. He got out of work and took me home, where I spent all night trying to calm down.
I was sick the entire next day as well. It was awful. If I ever needed confirmation that I made the right choice by not going to nursing school, that was it.
My brother in law watched the security footage of the incident later since he wasn't there and he felt sick afterwards as well. So it's not just me.
The best part of this was that while it was happening, customers were mad that we weren't ringing them up for candy bars, even though they were in eye sight of the man.
Since it's my senior year, I have to take the senior seminar for my honors and leadership program. That means I'm in a year long group project. I was nervous going into the class. Imagine my horror when I realize that everyone grouped up over the summer and had already started doing things. There were only four of us who weren't in a group. So we grouped up and decided to tackle campus safety. It's been, interesting. Fun, and extremely frustrating.
At first we decided to we were going to create our own app to help students walk in groups at night on campus to all of the public transportation. Going in I knew I'd never personally use that app, but whatever maybe people would like it.
Well, then we decided to get an app developer to help us. He was going to do it for free.
Then he got three other friends to help and they wanted $4000 and they said our idea was full of flaws and we needed to fix them.
From there it's gone down hill, and now we're trying to get the school to pay for an already existing app for all students. Except I got a text last night at midnight saying that the school might have done that on their own, so we now have no project idea and another semester to go.
The one fun thing has been dressing up on Friday's for class. I stole one of sammy's old suit jackets and made it mine. It's my favorite new accessory.
Sammy and I went up to Fort Collins in August to visit old friends and stopped by the Fort Collins temple. It looks so pretty, I can't wait to go inside!
We got cute matching shirts
I did my hair one day, then took it out thirty minutes later. I wish I'd worn my hair up more as a kid because I seriously can't stand it up! And whenever I put my hair up, Sammy gets more snuggly, messing up my hair, which stresses me out and it's just no fun. At least I have this picture.
We discovered a yogurt shop in our neighborhood that had these awesome dividers, so you could put two different flavors! It was awesome. We even went there on a study date one night. It has now since closed. I was so mad! I'd gone in our pajamas, and since the store was closed Sammy said we should stop in the grocery store next door for a few things. I didn't want to, but it turns out everyone shops in their pajamas on Monday nights so I fit right in.
After a summer wearing slip ons for work, cute strappy sandals, and thick strapped flip flops, this was the tan line on my feet. It's still there, in December.
I went to Target with my mom a lot this semester. It was awesome.
Sammy and I went to our first concert, Empire of the Sun, together. We're both over 21 so we didn't have to get X's on our hands, which was pretty exciting. Sammy bought the tickets for this concert when I was asleep. He claims that he asked me, and I mumbled something, which is why he bought them. We saw a lot of weird people that night. I ruined it when I just couldn't stand anymore and had to sit down three songs from the end.
Going into school, I was enrolled in a human evolution class. I'd taken the pre req for it freshman year of college and it was one of my favorite classes. I'm at the point in my degree where I just need filler classes and that sounded fun. Well, when I showed up for my first week of human evolution, I realized there was no way I was going to pass it. The teacher warned that it might not even be for all the anthropology majors. I'm not even an anthropology major. I quickly got out of that class and enrolled in the only empty class at that time I could find, History of WWI and WWII.
It has been one of my favorite classes ever. The professor is amazing. I learned so much. I feel like I understand the world we're living in so much more. And, I now understand a lot more history jokes, like the one above.
I was walking around one day on campus, just looking around when I saw one of my best friends Joice, and AUSTIN! Austin was one of my good friends freshman year of college, but he moved back home the next year. I haven't seen him in two years and it was so cool that I just stumbled by the one day he was visiting CO.
Speaking of Joice, she is so stinking sweet and took me out for cake on my birthday. She understands me so well though and took me out a week before my birthday so I wouldn't have to stress trying to fit everyone in that week. It was so much fun and I'm eternally grateful we ended up roommates.
Sammy, Mike, and I did our first 5K. I started running this summer and realized I actually don't hate it. We did the Color Run which was perfect for us. It was at night, it was a huge bubble bath, and we got to glow in the dark.

It was creepy seeing our faces under the black lights. This was seriously such a fun night and I'm glad I got to do my first race with these guys.
I turned 22. It was great and such a great birthday, so much better than last year. Sammy got me red rain boots which I had in high school and have sorely missed. I wore hipster glasses to school but no one got it. I spent the whole day with family. My mom and I stopped by my apartment to have some lunch, and when we were leaving, I saw this guy coming up the stairs with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. I thought to myself, man that's a lucky girl. Well that girl was me because Sammy was the one carrying the flowers, trying to surprise me by bringing them home on his lunch break. Poor guy, every time he tries to do a surprise it gets ruined.
We went to our first gender reveal party and it was so much fun! We guessed a boy and were correct and spent most of our time playing with the dogs. I'm so excited for Brandi!
Sammy and I watched conference together and had a great weekend. I love watching it with him now in our little home.
We hung out with our awesome friend's the Siechs at Target one night. Their kids LOVE Sammy and it's so cute to watch him play with them. :)
Sammy's hot.
I wrote a first draft of a novel in two months. It was a little over 70,000 words. I've never had a story come to me so completely and flow so easily. I wrote the majority of the novel between classes, or when teachers would go off on random tangents.
Next semester I'm doing an honors project with one of my favorite professors in English. By doing an English specific honors project I'm going to graduate with a cum laude of some sort. I also get to do whatever I want. So, I'm working on editing this novel with my professors. My goal is to be submitting it to publishers by the time I graduate and he thinks I can do it.
Each professor only gets to work with three students on these kinds of projects. When he invited me to do this, he already had two students he was working with, and prospects from others. But he told me I would be his third student even though I had no idea what I was doing yet. That meant SO much to me.
Texts I've had while working on this book.
I've also been taking a class to learn how to write for a newspaper this semester. Our final project was to pitch four newspaper story ideas to the editors of the paper, in hopes they would ask us to write two. Some of my classmates only got one story picked up, or none. I got all four of mine picked up. It was a shock honestly! I've really seen my writing improve this semester and am very proud of it. I'm actually trying to figure out how to fit being a staff writer for the paper into my schedule next semester.
I went as punk Hermione for Halloween, and Sammy went as zombie/tire Clark Kent because he ran out of time to plan his costume. We went to our first Halloween party and it was actually a lot of fun!

These are Sammy's best friends from work and they LOVE to nerd out together. I'm glad that they're wives/girlfriends are so awesome. It's so nice having friends and going out. We didn't have many our first year of marriage.

Sammy and I went and saw Joice perform with the Bollywood club, and then tried Indian food for the first time. We sat there while Joice told us what everything was. I love having a best friend from a different culture and getting to learn all about it.

Remi taking a nap with me at my parent's house.

Sammy is a die hard bears fan. I hate sports, and I really hate have such a sucky team on our license plate because people make fun of me and I don't even feel like defending them. I've spent most of my life in Colorado though, so when the Broncos beat the Bears, I asked Sammy if I could borrow one of his Bronco's shirts. What cracks me up is that the two teams have the exact same colors.

I decorated our apartment this year! I had so much fun putting the ornaments in the ceiling, and I found this tree on Black Friday with my sister for $20. I love the way it looks and don't want to take the ornaments down after Christmas.

We had a great Thanksgiving, eating at both of our parent's houses. It was a lot of food. Sammy did the sweetest thing, when we were at his parents I was SO full and couldn't eat anymore, but still had an untouched roll on my plate. I was preparing myself to try and eat it when he took it off my plate and ate it himself. I wanted to kiss him.

This is Chloe. She is my Christmas present from Sammy. We made her together at Build A Bear and I love her so much! She's sparkly and her antlers light up. I love having a husband who doesn't judge me for still loving stuffed animals so much.

These are my awesome polar bear pajamas, featured with my lovely polar bear Sammy gave me three Valentine's ago. I love these pi's SO MUCH.

I got to celebrate Joice's birthday with her. It was a muchly needed girl's day. I may or may not have bought some make up for myself while we were out.
I have a picture of me crying while watching a proposal on the Office, but I decided not to put that on here. That's how stressed out I got this finals week. In the history of ever, I have only cried at one movie, The Last Song after the dad dies, and that was only when I was watching it by myself at 1:00 in the morning. I don't usually cry at happy things. But that proposal on the Office made me burst into sobs, so I took a picture to prove it to Sammy. And it wasn't even the classic proposal, it was the one from season 7. (Bailey if you're reading this, I tried not to ruin it for you.:))
It's been a crazy semester, but it's been a good one. I'm going to work on my novel some more on break, try to relax, and then put it into gear for one more!
Congrats for making it to the end! You deserve a cookie.

Thanks for trying not to spoil it for me! Now I'm curious as to who gets engaged!
