Weeks 26-27

Week 26  I keep waking up in the middle of the night feeling a strong heartbeat like rhythm in my stomach in one spot, over and over. I was so worried that I was squishing or hurting the baby in my sleep and had no idea what it was. When it kept happening during the day, I went down the google wormhole and discovered that they are hiccups! I felt what I thought were hiccups a month ago, but these feel completely different, however they keep happening multiple times a day and always in the middle of the night around 3 in the morning.  Whenever I come home from work and Sammy starts talking to the baby, he usually moves like crazy. There were a few days this week though where every time Sammy started talking to him, he'd stop moving. The second Sammy would turn away or take his hand off my stomach, the baby would feel like he was doing flips. Then Sammy would try to feel and he would stop immediately. He's a little prankster this kid. A few nights later though I was layin...

Weeks 24-25

Week 24  I went to the doctor for my 24 week check up and everything looked normal. She had a hard time finding his heartbeat because he kept squirming every time she found it, but it sounded nice and strong. My sciatic nerve has been bothering me a lot and I've tried a lot of different stretches, but it still acts up. My dad swears that icing is the only way to help so I've been sitting on a bag of peas a lot. One night Sammy was making a meal that could have peas added to it, but he said, "No way, those are your butt peas." One night we had a frozen pizza for dinner and it was a pretty big one. Sammy had one slice and was full, and I ate the rest of the pizza. I was starving! I'm so much hungrier, but I can feel my stomach starting to get smaller as the baby grows. I need more food, but there's not enough room for it all at once.  One day at work the baby kept moving and sitting on a nerve which was painful. I kept feeling pain in a weird spot in ...

Weeks 22-23

Week 22 So, I have a thing about moths. I hate them. A lot. And when I was a kid my sister and I would go through deep manuevers to go wake our poor mom up to come and kill them, but they'd always disappear, only to come back out the second she left. Since I live on my own, whenever there's a moth either Sammy or I have to kill it. Sammy has tried, but has need successfully killed a moth, having not had to witness years of how it's done. My favorite memory is when we were very first married and there was a moth, and at one point he started spraying it with his cologne to 'try and suffocate it with the fumes like bug spray' as he put it. Every time I would end up taking the swatter from him and then killing those moths in a rage.  We had one in our apartment this week sitting in Sammy's shoes, who then went to the ceiling. The ceilings are pretty high, and I was exhausted after work. Sammy grabbed our Swiffer and then smashed the moth in one try. I was s...

Social Media Fast

Sammy and I were listening in on a broadcast for the youth at church where they were asked to go on a social media fast for a week. While this was directed at people 12-18, Sammy and I both looked at each other and said that we wanted to do it. It was the last week before the LSAT and he really needed to study, along with our anniversary. I've noticed over the past few months that I've spent more and more time scrolling on social media, instead of getting things done. Every night instead of writing or reading a book, I'd just keep hitting the refresh button over and over. This fast was something we both were excited about. We handed our phones over, changed the passwords, and deleted the apps.  That first night was weird when we were going to bed. Instead of scrolling through everything one last time, and Sammy catching up on Twitter while playing with my hair, we put both of our phones down and just spent some time together. I slept better that night than I have in a...

Weeks 20-21

Week 20  My brother graduated high school and I wasn't as worried about his ceremony as my sister's since it was closer to home. There was a lot of walking involved and they didn't have the stadium opened when we first got there, so we had to wait outside in the 80 degree heat. They also didn't allow any purses in the stadium, so we had to put all of our things in a clear bag. Since it was so hot out, I was hungrier than usual and started panicking about my snack supply. I had no idea how long this was going to go, and I didn't want to pass out. The things I was told to avoid were heat, low blood sugar, and getting dehydrated and I was at risk of two of those.  The stadium did not have any air conditioning going for a bit and was so hot. Plus, we still had a good hour to wait until the event started. I really started panicking in my seat, so I went to go get some more food to see if walking around would help. I was winded after walking up the stairs though ...

20 Week Ultrasound/ Gender Reveal

Technically our 20 week ultrasound was on the last day of week 19, but who's counting ;) Before I was pregnant, I thought that I would spend every single day wondering what the babies gender was, and would have a countdown until I could find out, and that it would drive me crazy. It really hasn't though. Before that point, I would sometimes forget for hours that I was pregnant, and when I would try and 'feel' what the gender was, I felt nothing. As far as the gender went, we had a girl name that I absolutely adored and felt so right. I would be lying if I didn't say I wanted to buy girl clothes as well, and had dreams of raising a strong lady. All of the dreams I had, I was holding a girl as well. But I still didn't feel one way or the other very strongly.    Most of my family thought that we were having a boy, along with half of my coworkers. Sammy's family all thought it was a girl though. Sammy didn't feel very strongly either what it was. I didn...

Weeks 18-19

Week 18 I'm pretty sure that I felt the baby move this week. I was laying in bed in the morning and telling Sammy that I wished I could feel the baby move. I started poking around my stomach where it's hard, then felt this little flick three times. I wasn't sure if it was my stomach digesting or what so I waited, then felt it one more time. I'd never felt anything like it, so I'm pretty sure it was the baby. I kept poking my belly every day after that trying to make it happen again, but there was nothing. Sammy and I exchanged these messages. We had this weird moment at church where a missionary was talking about her friends conversion story. As she talked, Sammy and I kept looking at each other because this person sounded familiar to someone we both interact with on Twitter. I broke my rule of not getting on the internet during church and messaged her to ask if she knew this missionary. Turns out she did! It's such a small world sometimes. Star Wars ...
