If there's one thing I need to work on, it's my focus. Especially since summer is coming! I don't want it to come August and say wow, I slept a lot this summer like previous ones. Also when it comes to my anxiety, I tend to have a harder time in the summers and early fall than in winter when it comes to this. Partly because I have more time to worry about things, and because I feel sick if it's super hot. This summer, I'm going to have Soo much more time on my hands. The wedding will be over, classes will be out for the summer, and I'll be living with Sammy which will drastically reduce my travel time to and from his house ;) This is the beginning of a new chapter in my life and I want to enjoy it! I don't want to look back on this summer and see how anxious I was. I also want to finish a novel and send it off. And in order to do that, I'm going to need to focus. Which, I struggle with. So, I've come up with a game plan in order to get this done.
Let's do this!
1. Keep the house clean. If everything is clean, I won't have anything distracting me, or an excuse to procrastinate. Also, messiness is blah and having a clean environment is awesome!
2. Listen to a devotional/talk/scriptures every morning. I've noticed that when I feed my spiritual mind, my creative one turns on much easier. Plus, if this is done as well, I can't feel guilty about not doing it and I know that this devotion time will help me!
3. Get up by eight every day. I'll probably have to work in the mornings anyways, so I'll be up much earlier anyway. But, if I get my butt out of bed at a reasonable time every day, I'll have more time to get things done, and I won't be groggy from over sleeping. Then I also can't spend time dwelling on whatever, I'll get up and moving!
4. Exercise instead of nap. I have a bad habit, I love naps. And I don't need them. They're somewhat addicting. Exercise on the other hand, is good for your body, good for your mind, and makes you feel better!
5. Write everyday! Duh. This is necessary for my goal. But I never actually get down to doing it. But this summer, is going to be different!
6. Read 47 books this summer. I'm going to have lots of reading time on the bus, and will be living down the street from a library! Well, more like biking distance! A part of being a good writer is reading reading reading!
7. Attempt to have a blog post 6 days a week. Blogging is my journal. It also helps me stay positive. I know it's bad to think of hey! I should do this so I could blog about it! But, that gets my homebody self going, and makes me look for the positive side of things. I feel good when I know I have something going up on here as well. Plus my life is changing and I want to remember every moment!
If I stay focused, I'm positive I can have a fun summer and lots of fun! I'm so excited for what this summer has to hold, and sure I can keep the anxiety at bay!
What are you focusing on this summer? Or focusing on in general?
If you've been following along here, you've probably noticed me linking up with Lauren every Friday. Today I'm cohosting in her Favorite F Words series. It would be awesome if you joined us! Here are the rules for the link up! I promise it's easy, I even do it!
1. In your F word post, try to refer to the series - feel free to include the button!
2. Posts need not be solely about that Friday's F word but must be related in some manner. You can even pull from your archive if you want!
3. Link to your F word post only - entire blog links will be deleted.
4. Visit at least one other participant's post and comment to help create community and support of the F word reclamation.
5. If you would like to tweet about the link up, feel free to use #fridaysfavoritefword (Lauren will definitely retweet those tweets.) I will try to figure out the twitter.
6. Have fun and enjoy!

You can borrow my lovely son if you want to make sure you're up by 8am LOL! Just kidding. I love this post and what a ridiculously adorable photo! Can I totally be a mom and say cherish sleeping in and napping?! Really though I don't regret missing out on sleep even if I don't get it now, you're so right on not wanting to waste the day. It's nice to look back and have things accomplished even if it's as simple as going to get some ice cream on a summer day or taking the dog for a walk!
ReplyDeleteAnd OH MY 47 books?! I have some friends who totally do this and to this day I am SO amazed, I really try to read more myself, but 47 wowee! I think I would throw myself a party if I could read 5 in a month. And I absolutely love the prose before hoes that's too funny.
xox.
I love your goals! Hahah and I totally agree with Mercedes, rest while you can! Thank you so much for cohosting, it was lovely having you! xox
