My favorite dates and moments aren't the big ones. They aren't the big fancy shmancy dates that cost a billion dollars. The year anniversaries or Valentine's day or birthdays. Or even going to the zoo. My favorite moments are usually the little ones that come after. When I'm feeling sick and we just snuggle. The week after the one year anniversary when we just laughed and talked with no pressure. Giggling and banging on car windows for just one more goodbye. The days spent doing nothing at all, but mean everything. Just going for a walk. The day after birthdays and holidays when all that pressure is gone.
That doesn't just count with Sammy. With everyone for that matter. Times just talking about bands and computers and classes with my dad. Telling my mom the weirdest facts until late late late and she just stays and listens. When my sister calls me to tell me I went too far when I was the one who was supposed to be showing her where to go. Laughing with my brother about GO TO BED. When the dog just sits next to me to eat her toy instead of one inch farther. Listening to my grandparents stories about their everyday lives. Connecting with aunts and uncles and cousins on the littlest of things.
Those are my favorite moments.
